Since BunBun has gotten Lucky as a girlfriend,he's totally lost interest in me altogether. Is this common for abonded pair? They seem to be so in love with eachother that they arenot at all keen on human attention.
I spend most of my day with them. BunBun used to be the most snugglyaffectionate rabbit I have ever come across, now when I try to cuddlewith him he runs over to Lucky and nuzzles his head into her side andpeeps out at me, like he's scared and hopes I'll go away! Heused to lick my face and cuddle up to me for so long that he'd fallasleep, and even used to dead bunny flop onto my back if I was lying onthe floor.
I kind of feel like I'm his mean mama getting jealous of his new wife:?. Lucky has never taken to me at all and the breeder I got her from(who was about 10 years old) didn't handle any of her rabbits except tograb them by the scruff and drag them inside for injections etc. So Ithink her acting frightened of me has also convinced BunBun that I amsomething to be scared of. I've only managed to get Lucky to hunkerdown for a pet a few times.
I've tried all the usual suggestions of just spending heaps of timenear them, like lying next to their cage reading for a couple of hours, and feeding them treats by hand etc but I'm getting to the point whereI think that I just have to accept they are happy with eachother. Theonly times they come up to me and get excited are when I give themfresh pellets or hay. It's a bit depressing but I am glad that theylike eachother so much
.
Anyone else had a similar experience with bonded buns? Did they ever get over the honeymoon phase?
