I've got some good news about Chowder!
We took the lighter weight bandages off her last night. Underneath, her feet look amazing! Nice, soft pink and shiny. No more oozing, every last ulcerated spot has healed and she can put even weight down on her hocks now. That is a HUGE improvement.
My roomate and I decided to leave the bandages off of her for one day and see how she does. She is still living in the huge run, bedded deeply in straw. I think that has been the most helpful thing for her. Depending on how she looks this evening, we might re-wrap her in thin bandages for a few more nights just to give her hocks time to toughen up, and hopefully for some fur to grow back in.
This is such a relief. Two weeks agoshe seemed in such bad shape that I thought it might be kinder to put her down. And this week she is moving with no pain, and getting back to her feisty self.
