It's officially pomegranate season here in Southern CA, which means that my husband and I will be stealing fruit from his dad's tree every three days for the next month and a half. But THIS

Is not so ideal when opening this delectable treat in our house. We have a bunny who LOVES pomegranate seeds. And if I let her, she will jump up onto my lap and stick her face right in the bowl to pig out. So without further ado, here's a list of do's and don'ts with rabbits and fruit.

YES:
  • Apples
  • Apricots
  • Bananas
  • Berries
  • Cherries
  • Cranberries (dried)
  • Kiwis
  • Mangos
  • Melons
  • Nectarines
  • Oranges
  • Papayas
  • Peaches
  • Pears
  • Pineapples
NO:

  • Avocado
  • Tomato (mainly the plant, but I would just avoid it because it's highly acidic)
  • Apple seeds
  • Fruit pits or seeds
So where do pomegranate seeds fall into this category? Because if you open one, I guarantee you'll get one or all of the above reactions. Well... It's controversial. Pomegranate seeds are high in sugar, and while rabbits can eat them, they are not to be a regular treat. Once in a blue moon, should be the theory.

I'm sure I missed some, so feel free to add your own!
