I get my tattoo tomorrow, and i'm terrified.

It'll be on my shoulder blade.

I'm not a boney person, but it's still over the bone

The guy said it'll be maximum 1 hour.

Hm..help?

Yes it does, but its bearable least for most people, the shoulder blade being one of the more tender spots.

The biggest thing is to just stay mentally above it, relax and breathe. Also bring someone or something to really distract yourself, start talking about something you're passionate about. The less you think about it the easier and quicker it will be.

As far as pain goes think about roughly what a catsratch or similer scrape feels like, or take a small string and rubbing it back and forth until you get a rope burn, plus add the vibration from the bone. Not necessarily a breeze but definatly tolerable and by far not the worst pain you'll ever have to deal with. Relax, stay mentally above it, and focus your attention on something that you enjoy so much will numb anything.

Tattoo's hurt to some degree, but look at how many people go back and get tattoo after tattoo, so how much could it really hurt? It is a dealable pain, of course some areas hurt more then others. I have three located on my lower leg around the ankle and one on my back right in the middle. I have notice that the outline hurts the worse. I am waiting and hoping to get another one , right where you are getting yours, so it couldnt have been such a horrible pain if i am getting more, lol!!!!!!! You should be ok , take a head set and listen to your own music that will calm you , whatever that would be, sometimes that helps

Just read your post on what you're getting and why, a lot of people turn tattoos and other body mods as a physical symbolic expression of whats happened in their life as well as with them mentally and emotionally. A lot of people need the physical pain to kind of link everything.

They've been through things emotionally and have come out on the other side, so then physically they go through the pain and when finished end up with something beautiful that will be with them forever, just as what we all go through in our lives we have to strenghen ourselves and better ourselves because of it. Tattoos recreate that and many people feel that by linking the mind and body creates stronger links within themselves so they can withstand more, and gives them something physical that they can actually see, tieing up loose ends and helping to complete circles.

well u mustve gotten it by now .....did it hurt?..hehe ...depends on the location and how much "cushion" u have ...:)
im skinny and my ankle has no fat...the best way to explain it was..,it was really annoying..not painful..just annoying..
my brother is loaded with them..he said the shoulder blade hurt pretty bad.....ive also heard that the worst and most painful spot is underside of ur upper arm...
i also had my eyebrows done and my lips...of course were not talkin norm tat colors.its very muted and makeup looking,,,and this color lasts prob about a year then fades out.....
my eyebrows tickled my sinuses so i felt like i had to sneeze the whole time...zzzzzzzz..
my lips...ugh...that was absolute torture..never never never again...there are so many nerve endings in ur lips...and my lips swelled up so big i could look down and see them ..i looked fabulous.....yea right i looked like a freak of nature...i dont care how good they looked when the swelling went down...never never again...let us know how it went and we need pics too..:)

lining will be the most uncomfortable. then the shading and filling in is nothing cause your skin gets so numb. for mine it hurt worst when it got close to my ribs, but it was a tickling hurt. kinda made my lips twitch. lol.

It reminded me of 1000 bee stings when I got my tattoo. Painful, but certainly couldn't compare to being in labor! LOL

well, i never got a tatoo before but if don't want it to hurt that bad bring a book or something a little mini game, PSP, anything to take your mind of the tattoo!:juggle
