Ooo the open mic thing is a really sweet idea! I like it!

Also, do you have like a bf/gf or something? For my 16 we had a dance where it was just me and my bf, and then another with just me and my dad. Kind of like a wedding which might be weird, but it was special, haha.

Not yeeeet lol. I actually wanted to walk into the party with a guy on my arm so I asked my friend and he said he'd think about it because I told him if he did he'd have to wear a Pink Polo, (matching my brothers, but pink) or a pink dress shirt.

For sure, aha.
I read a site which said (so true) you should make a 'Party Squad' being people who run around and do things last minute because I obviously can't and my mom would be busy herself. I was thinking of asking some of my older friends who are 18-19. Also, they double as 'Securitay' (I write it like that so no law suits can fly my way), my mom laughed at the idea and agreed. She said for their, contribution she'd buy/give them money to get a bottle of bubbly.

I found my date :D
I'm so excited. It all works out perfectly. I wanted to walk in 20-30 minutes into the party, when everyones already there. And my date (who me and my mom have known for like, 3 years) will have his full lisence (just a G1 now) so if my mom wanted to leave early he could just drive and hang out with me for the 30 minutes.

Hey Brandy!

Reading your thread made me remember when I was on the prom decorating committee in highschool... we made some incredible decorations!

We used books from this company to inspire us... maybe there's some pics on their website that will inspire you too :)

For anyone who had their sweet 16's , do you open the present AT the party. Like I know you do at any other birthday party but if there'll be over 100 people, that could take LONG. (Btw, I don't want/expect gifts from anyone, but alas no one listens to me)

For my 16th birthday I went to build a bear with a group of girls and then we went back to my house and swam. A family friend who is a chef made dinner and my favorite dessert (chocolate mousse cake) and then the girls spent the night.

The girl whose birthday was before me at build a bear was 6 and I was 16.
I'm a dork.

:biggrin2:That sounds more fun to me than a party.

It sounds more like a wedding scenario...
Some folks open presents during the celebration... like, if there`s the dance going on, or while the tables are being cleared away by the caterer.

I really like how my neighbours did it, though. They gave a wedding breakfast the next morning with a buffet, and opened the presents with their close family and friends (can be kinda boring watching somebody open stuff... mind you, it happens at babyshowers and what not...)

So overall, I would say, open someone`s gift while you are sitting beside them (whenever you do it), so they can appreciate your ooh`s and aww`s.

No matter how you do it, just keep those `Thank you`cards handy.... people love recieving them !

Ohh ! thats a good idea. Like people can be dancing after the hors d'oevuers kind of snack and I can get the DJ to call people over to the present table while i open their gift. Bahahaha. Great Idea, Thanks ! :)

I was also thinking having my closest friends sleep over and the next morning we all open the presents. Since if theres over 100 people , and there'll be alot of presents since no one likes to listne to me (well, family I always get presents, multiple.. -.-) i'll need that extra help
