I have my mock exams in three and a bit weeks, my subjects are english, irish, maths, german, science, technology, business, cspe, history and science. We have a full week off before the mocks to study, plus I study every evening from about 5 to 9 or half 9, I've been doing that for the last three days, and I have barely scrapped the surface, what methods do you use when studying for exams?

For essay subjects; essay plans, essay plans, and more essay plans! I can't stress that enough!

I also write revision notes, but it is important to reword and restructure your revision notes so they are different from your original notes, otherwise you end up just copying and not actively thinking about what you are writing. I also like mind maps as they are great for planning causation things. I haven't done science since GCSE, but I just used revision guides for those and found them really helpful, so I'd definitely use those. I also work well with another person, actively talking about the subject I'm revising(just don't get talking about other things!;)) And remember to re-read over your notes/plans etc until you have them pretty much memorised. As depressing as it is, sometimes you just have to sit down and learn things the hard way.:(

I usually make projects, you know like you did in primary school? I pick a topic and make it into a project on the computer. Kinda like writing your own textbook. It really helps because you have to sift through all your notes and find the relevant stuff, and you have to re write it all out so it goes in your brain, and then you have something to refer to for help.

If you can get those project books where you can slip the stuff inside the plastic cases it really works well.

from what i've learned about the Irish curriculum. If you want to do well in language exams just do the papers, as many as you can.
I've been able to get students to get as high as a C in their Leaving Cert when in fact they couldn't string a sentence together in German. I'm not proud of it but that's the way the Irish system works and then students can't cope when they start university...

What I do is rewrite all my notes loads of time then break up the important pieces and repeat them in your head till you can say it word for word.

I am ok with study, I can go for hours but it is just getting myself to start studying, I find it easest to get up early in the morning and start studying, Maybe you could do this, the reason is there is no destraction at 5am so All I can do is study.

Lol, I dunno what I'll do, they are on in two weeks and six days, at least this is only the mocks, the well junior cert won't start until the third of June.

It's hard to do something that doesn't inspire you but at the moment you're stuck with it.
Try and look at it as an investment for the future so that you may not end up being stuck doing a job that you hate for the rest of your life. A good education gives you way more choices later on. You can be anything you want...

Ya I want to be a vet. nurse, at least the points aren't that high for that, my sister got 560 points in her leaving cert, she studied alot though.

Who knows by the time you do your Leaving Cert you may even want to do something else. Always good to keep your options open. My son always wanted to study zoology. The way he is doing in school there's not a chance he'll get into Third level straight after school

Ya I have wanted to be a vet. nurse for a couple of years now but I guess it could happen that I would change my mind, we have to fill out the thingy for out classes for leaving cert, I don't think I'll do any business subjects but I'm going to do biology.

Well, I think my business classes will help me in any subject I choose because now I know the business side of it, but that is just me.
I generally only study for 15-30 minutes at a time, and then I go do something else for half an hour. That way I don't get too tired of the subject and give my brain time to digest the information. Works pretty well, I've only made one B so far, unless you are up against a tight deadline and don't have much time, then you have to study for a lot longer.
