A bit of diarrhea from Miss Agnes....which it has to be the spinach...only new veggie introduced. Proof that the rule of slow introduction and one veggie at a time is a good thing so you know right away!!!

My hubby has had to help cut two big clumps of "poopie" off Agnes today. Needless to say neither are happy ;)

Kale was recommended to me as a high fiber veggie when Bunny was molting big time and kept ingesting fur. I think it helped, but it definitely gave him gas. I don't think I introduced it slowly enough though...

Thanks Alma!!...I did read that and I heard no more than a couple times a week right??.....which was my plan but I think I'll try spinach another time :)

Spinach is high in oxalates so my Mikey can't have it, but I have yet to have a bunny react badly to kale.

The calcium danger is really overstated, the rabbits need calcium for teeth and bones. It rarely causes problems.

I'm having trouble finding out the difference between oxalate and calcium intake when it comes to crystals as opposed to stones. Mike had blood in his urine and high crystal content, no stones, and his bladder problems have been directly related to his spinach intake.

Not enough research has been done on this me thinks!

Very interesting sas.....I have read a few conflicting things about spinach and kale so it's nice to hear another perspective.....thanks :)

If it's not in Rabbit Nutrition and Nutritional Healing, maybe it will be in the coming 2nd edition. I haven't completely grasped her discussion, so the information may or may not be in the section on calcium & oxalates.

ohh this is good to know. I think i'll stop with the Spinach.. we just started about a week ago, and they both seem to love it...

Maria...I don't think you need to stop completely, there is just some research that indicates to not feed everyday. I'm only stopping because of the diarrhea.
