Hello, I'm back with some behavioral issues with my now spayed female rabbit. Ginger is around 7 months now and was spayed 2 months ago, meaning that all the hormones should have dispersed. However, it seemed like her aggressiveness presented itself after she recovered from her spay. Before, she was incredibly sweet if not slightly bossy. However, now she bites me quite often. I understand her biting when she's scared - I took her out to see a friend one day and she bit me while I was holding her. I can understand that because she was in an unfamiliar environment with unfamiliar people. However, now she will bite me almost out of boredom. I will be sitting on the floor with her and she will bite me occasionally with no provocation. If I stop petting her, she will get upset and nip me. It's nothing severe but it does hurt. I just don't understand where this came from and how to change it. Now, she's gotten to the point where she will nip me and then groom the area she bit. Is this trying to present dominance? I have never punished her for being mean, as I call it, but I don't want her to be like this to other people. Any ideas?

Pippi was that way for a while. I had her spayed a month after I got her. She has chilled out for the most part, but if I pet the other rabbits, then go to her, she bites a chunk out of my hand or finger. She absolutely hates the smell of other animals. Does your friend have any pets that could have frightened your rabbit? Or it might be some fragrance your friend had on.. or even just their brand of shampoo. Does she get enough play time outside of her home? Does she have other things in her home to play with/Chew? Pippi has a phone book that she loves to shred. :)

squeak, thump and turn away from her.

She's learned she can do it and get away with it.

Train her.

:yeahthat:

also, sometimes a rabbit will give you little love nips, they are soft though ;)
if she bites you and it draws blood then that mean she's furiously mad,
but if it doesn't, that could mean that she wants you to move,
my rabbit will nip me when i'm lying on the floor and he wants me too move (because i was on his favorite blanket LOL) He also nips me when he wants attention too.
