I think thats very true - everything does happen for a reason.
I have wanted one of these cavies for years (literally) but never seem to be set up for one, or financially able. They're hard to find as well, but I'm fortunant enough to know a family who has them - and some of their extended family also has an unrelated pair. Maybe I'll shoot for getting one from each so I can have my OWN pair, LOL!
I also adore English Lops and they're almost impossible for me to get here as well. I'm kind of at an either/or stage - I'd love to have a patagonian cavy, or an english lop. I just hate that I had another cavy at my fingertips and it slipped away.
Maybe its a sign overall, just to not have more pets for a while.
