I'm really skiddish about sticking my hand in the bag and pulling out the hay. Sometimes I find a clump of hay all tightly together and I think that maybe it's stuck around a body part. I'm paranoid now to stick my hand in there. I don't dare tell may kids about this or else they'd never feed the bunnies, my daughter especially. I hope to never find anything like that… if I did, my bunnies might starve. This is the main reason I'm not buying the bales from the farmers.

On another note, my bags of Oxbow Timothy hay (2 so far) have lots of brown bits of hay in them. The bunnies don't really like these and they'll leave them there and pick out the rest. Is this just random?

We feed baled hay from a horse stable...we feed 6-8 bales a year and our friendswith rabbits buy bales from us...maybe another 10-12 a year...in the last 6 years neither we nor the people that got hay from us have ever found either a live or dead animal!

We have loads of weeds, different types of hay and grass in our bales...our kids just sort through pick out what they like...if they want something they'll eat it..if not they'll just dig it aside or leave it until we refilll the hay bins!

I haven't found anything.. but I haven't really looked o_o.. don't make me paranoid too!!! =P

I can buy grass hay from a farmer here but I am afraid to feed it because it contains so much clover.

Ihave brought this up many times on this forum and just cannot get past the 'clover issue" so end up spending a huge fortune shipping Oxbow 100lbs at a time.

I really cannot separate the clover from the grass hay as there is a lot of clover and I really cannot know what stems are clover and what is grass as it is dried .

does anyone feed grass hay to their buns with a lot of clover in it without bad effects?

Igot off the topic here but my husband prefersI get oxbow because he is afraid that the nearby farm hay will bring a mouse in the house so that is why this came to mine now LOL

Unfortunately the Oaten Hay I get from a local store, i've had 3 mice in them :( dead :( i cried the first time... I do get skittish now. I also find bits of plastic ocassionally! I think its from a local farm. But the stuff is so ridiculously hard to get here that its the only thing stuff I can get!
