Hello, I have an english angora bunny that I got last week. He had weepy eyes(slight) and a little discharge from his nose,it looks greenish, but it is very slight and dried up when I see it.Almost unnoticeable. He also had a little dried stuff in his facial/neck wool today.I spent most of my money getting the rabbit and shipping it,so a vet is out of the question until next month. Also I got another rabbit as a present, but it hasn't arrived yet. Can I pick up a bottle of Baytril, and just keep the rabbits in seperate rooms? How do I treat this, or should I just watch him as he is not sneezing, etc. He has a good appetite and seems happy. But he is also scratching quite a bit. I didnt see signs of mites.Thanks.

Keep them separated/ You canobserve this rabbit if his behavior is normal and he is active. By improving his diet with a good quality hay and diet ( changing over from his previous diet slowly )he may recover with out the need for meds.
he probably does have fur mites, however, which can be treated with a anti parasitics ( many are dangerous, however, for rabbits. ). Mites often cause hair loss but frequently cannot even be seen under a microscope They often appear when a rabbit is stressed or the immune system is not up to par.

Advantage and Revolution are safe for rabbits . Selamectin is the generic name for the drugIn Revolution ; this is the medi-rabbit dosage for Revolution/ selamectin

probably best not to get more rabbits at this point because they do need vet care and they do cost $$

Thank you and I thoroughly agree about the not getting any more bunnies, thought they were troublefree pets, but if you take care of them correctly they do add up, dollar-wise.I will definitely follow your advice. Thanks!P.S. Will it ever be advisable to let them around each other(if the 1st bunny is symptom free?)

Decided against another rabbit, due to possible health problem although after I cleaned the dried stuff off of her eyes,I haven't seen anymore discharge. When she got here, I think she had been hot-and in some yukky-looking hay. The stuff I thought was discharge on her nose, she won't let me clean off, but is a dried stain-I am hoping this was due to the heat as she otherwise seems in great health and eats well, and is very active.I checked on vets and none of our vets treat rabbits. Hopefully she will not need one anytime soon. No sneezing, etc. but I am very watchful at this point. Thanks to everyone for the input!:)
