Or shows in general will help me.

I got a show Sunday I'm going to, and I was curious how they worked. How fast paced the shows are? What to wear? What to expect?

I used to show mainly for 4-H and I know this is a whole different world, sooo yeah
Lots of questions lol!

It's actually kind of the same as 4-H - at least as far as type judging goes, although 4-H might be a little more loose on it, ARBA isn't. They follow the standard really closely. ;) And your rabbits won't be in coops (unless otherwise stated), they'll stay in the carriers you bring them in. And of course, there will most likely be more people ;) lol.

For clothing, just wear something that you're comfortable in, and warm in if it's going to be cold where you're going! If you have a white showmanship jacket (maybe left over from 4-H?) with your 4-H emblems, patches on them, then you can wear that. ;)

It all depends on how many rabbits and people there are as to how quickly everything goes. If there are two Open shows, then usually Show B starts in the afternoon - but that may be different in your area. ;) And the Youth show runs a the same time that Show A runs. But like I said above, things may run differently in order in your area. ;)

I hope that helps you out a little!

Yes it does help alot...

But you will still bring like all the Black Mini rex senior does to the table together right?

Its basically run that way, and then the black senior bucks together, and then the senior opal does together exc...

It's still run along those lines?

Mini Rex are shown alphabetical. Black then blues and so on...

Within each color or group, Senior Bucks, then Senior Does, then Junior Bucks, then Junior Does.

Don't be afraid to ask for help. Rabbit people are usually very helpful, we were all newbies at one point.

Most show superintendents will post the Judging order on a board behind each judge. See where your Breed is posted and set up near that table. Of course keep an eye on what breed is being judged and listen for your breed to be called. As Sharon mentioned, just ask anyone... most Rabbit people are really helpful.

It was yesterday. There was two shows there and both judges told me COMPLETELY different lol

He's a Black SR. Mini Rex, Buck
First show:
3rd out of 3 lol
-Good: Head, ears, type, shoulders
-Failed at Hindquarters (midsection might be there too)
-Lacks coat and color

Second show:
-1st in class (only one)
-Good: Head , texture and color
-Nice depth in bone, type and shoulder

and he got Best Opposite of Variety

Sooooo, haha ok?

but decided on what breeds I'm going with now, and picking up new bunnies in just over a week, so it should be fun

and thank you for asking too!

That happens ALL the time! Don't let it bother you. All judges interpret the standards slightly differently. (Like one won't be bothered by a fold in an ear and another will DQ for it because it "detracts"... )

Did you have a good time? Meet anyone interesting? Were people helpful?

Yeah the people that I sat around all warned me of that lol.

I had a wonderful time. Made some great contacts! And any question I asked it was answered! Things are def a lot more hectic at those then where I used to show, but quick and fun.

The best part is my mom, I still live with her, so its her 'ok' with what I bring home, talked herself into other types of rabbits. It was strictly dwarfs at first, and she was leaning towards trying the velveteen lops....

She saw Harlequins there yesterday and ran over to talk to them, and we're pretty interested in them.

And she didnt get huffy when I introducted her to the people with Florida Whites. Soo, i'm interested in see what happens now lol

Really glad you enjoyed yourself! :biggrin2: I have met the nicest people through my rabbits. OohhHH! Harlies! and Florida Whites! (Ummm... has anyone told your mom that rabbits are addicting???? LOL! :bunnydance:)

lol oh she knows! Before I got out of them, I had a herd of Mini lops, some hollands, dutch, netherlands, satins, lots of things lol.

I've had one flemish giant, and actually what got her up and talking to people, was me saying 'Man, arn't those flemish gorgeous?' 'arnt the flemish big enough for even Rodeo (my cattle dog) to have a buddy?' and she kept questioning the Harlequins. I had no clue what they were lol. No one around my area has them.

and so she ran off and talked to them and came back and drug me over where I'm the rabbit one. And even later when she was waiting on me to finish up while I was up at the table she went back over to ask more aobut lol. She fell for the Harlequins!

And I had talked nonstop about the the velveteens for awhile, and when I found the girl who i had discussed buying some from, my mom fell for them as well. Soooo, i get to work with some stuff very uncommon around here and the peopel I met who worked with each were absolutely wonderful

and like you said that you've met wonderful people through your rabbits, I def did yesterday.
