:confused2:I'm curious about something. I know to show in an ARBA show I have to be an Arba member and have my card but does a rabbit need to be registered in able to show in an ARBA show? :?

No a rabbit does not need to be registered. Also, I believe that you don't have to be a member to show. I believe that membership is required for grand champions and such, but not to just start showing.

But being a member and getting a rabbit registered is good in the long run. :)

You do not have to be a member of the ARBA to show in any ARBA sanctioned show, and your rabbits do not have to be registered in order to show.
But, as CoolWaterRabbitry said, it is a very good idea to do so. :)

You also have to be a member of the ARBA to join any breed club that I know of andhave your sweeps points count.

It is quite easy to become a member, you can print off the forms from the ARBA web site.

When you become a member you recieve your membership card and the book "Raising Better Rabbits and Cavies" which is a very good resource.

thats the link to their membership page, and they also have a lot of other stuff you can order at the same time.

They have their books standard of prefection on sale for 10 bucks at the moment.

I just joined and bought that last night. \

And also, I don't think it was mentioned but you can't 'register' your rabbit unless you're a member and won a certain amount of legs with them? I forget how that works.

I don't believe they have to have a certain amount of legs(but I could be wrong) but they have to be at Sr age and have to be a good example of the breed. Only a ARBA registrar can register a rabbit. :)

The standard of perfection is (imo) a must have for any rabbitry/breeder. :)

A rabbits doesn't need to have any legs to be registered. They must be free of disqualifications and be a senior.

I renewed mine back in April, I've still yet to get a new standard book though. mine's the old one, 2001-2005 i am hoping the velveteens pass this year so i have a reason to buy a new one

Ok I have a couple questions. 1) My friend has some show mini rex's that have fur that is too long. would it be ok to cut it or not? 2) For legs if they get A BOB and BRIS in one show is that counted as two legs? Does a BRIS count?

I think if the rexes are show worthy you wouldn't do anything to their hair. And I'm guessing they would notice that its cut.

also every time you had posted your name at the end of your post, the other night I thought you were talking to me haha. I'm a bit slow sometimes. But my name is Crystal as well.

You cannot cut the hair. That is altering the appearance of the rabbit. It would be noticable and the rabbit would be DQ'ed from competition.

BRIS... you mean RIS? Like reserve in show? I don't think they give that as an award officially...so that would mean no leg. BOB would get one if there is enough rabbits and exhibitors showing. (5 rabbits and 3 exhibitors.)
