I have several of my blue dutch and my broken blue holland lop that have frosted coats, I can't get them to blue back up for the show. I know it's next to impossible to get them blue again before April 11th so I'm not going to show them then, but I would love to show them all again. What can I do to help re-"blue" them?

I've only ever seen one person shave down a blue polish to get rid of the frost and let it regrow

With so few points on the Holland coat, I wouldn't be at all concerned about the frosted coat.

The Dutch have more points on color, but I'd advise showing them as is rather than risking stress or hypothermia.

Okay, Well then I'll bring both to the show, I swear I've tried everything possible to keep their coats the right color, with the exception to cutting or dying.

That's Sam:

As you can tell, both are very handsome boys(Yes I know Sam has faults still) but Speedle has tons of potential I just thought it would be stupid to show him when his coat isn't quite right.

They are not "frosted", they are just sun stained. Blue is a very hard color to keep blue. They must be kept in a dark area with no sunlight. The sunlight is what is staining your blues.

The other thing which could stain a blue or any rabbit for that matter is urine. Bucks especially like to spray there cage and rub against it...this will stain their coat too.

My suggestion to you is to move your blues to the darkest part of your barn :)

What's a frosted coat? I've never heard of that before.

"Frosted" coats on blues/lilacs is silver tipping on the coat which can be genetic or due to an older coat.

The rabbits in question actually have a "rusty" appearance to the coat rather than frosting.

So the rusty (not frosted) appearance could be from older age? Speedle's almost 3, Sam's not even two.

I know Sam will go blue again once he molts down, but then he rusts back up shortly afterwards, is there a way to keep him from rusting? SPeedle i'm just going to show like he is, a little conditioning to his coat.

Sorry about calling it frosted, it looked like their fur had been frosted like a cake, my sister's a pastry chef so . . . Opps
