Hey all..

Oreo has been really nasty! Today I was cleaning her cage in the morning, like always and I went to get her hay bin and she just charged at me! It freaked me out because she has NEVER done that. Then she made a little weird noise, I almost want to call it a growl and then she gave me this look, kinda like saying, LEAVE ME ALONE! I couldnt just leave her alone! She needed hay and fresh water and pellets!!!! I had to put my hand in there and she did it again! I finally grew some heart and just let her charge at me, she didnt bite me amazingly.. but what she did do was claw me! She scratched at my arm with both of her paws and thumped. I know she didnt want me in there, and by that point I didnt want to be in there!!!! I made a post a few days ago saying she might be pregnant. Do does really change THIS MUCH?!? She's a different bunny and I feel for her :( I know you cant really control hormones, but my goodness!! Is this normal?! Is there anything I can do at all to make her happy again?! Another thing, when I let her out of her home to get her free time she spends most of her time shoving the tip of her face in Bugsy cage so he can clean her. Then she'll just lay by him. She never even paid any attention to him before and now its like this is her long lost love! AND the same for him!!! Oh Oh 1 more thing. I was holding one of the babies yesterday and Oreo was out, I made sure to keep the baby on my lap, which was really easy since she's a snuggler and Oreo got a look at her and I swear it felt like she was a bulldog for a moment.. she tried to charge the baby!!!!! I let out a little squeel and jumped up! She thumped at me and went to her cage and just plopped down.. what is happening to my sweet baby :( :( I read they can change but this drastically?!

I have only the one male bun but from what others have written, they can become that agressive. Can you try giving her hay, pellets and water when she is out of the cage? I have read on here to do this to help avoid the agression.

I guess so, as the timing would be right & if you can't think of any other reason for the behavior change. [But meanness, at least for me, implies a bad intent, so it's more she's being crazy, temporary insanity.] I guess you'll have to wear gloves & long sleeves for the duration. Just be glad it's not going to be for 9 months!!!

I know you don't want to blame anyone else, but it's only fair that they have to deal with some of this & will be a life lesson for the non-adult one. At least that's what I'd do if I were you. Share the "wealth".

^^ she means my kids! I agree with her and i have been "sharing the wealth" LOL!

Giovanni, my 5 year old said "Mommy, babies make her mean" LOL and i just explained to him the changes she is going thru the best I could for a 5 year old. I used myself as comparison.. haha, i wasnt the nicest preggo with my 2nd...

Thats a great suggestion. I guess I will just change my schedule a bit (i dont have much time to let her roam in the morning.. all free time is when we all get home until we go to bed).. I normally clean the cages in the morning so whatever disaster they caused the day before doesnt bother them, since I do work during the day.

Thanks!! :)

Sounds like "normal" cage aggression. You are invading their personal space. If they get too bad, I usually pull them out, flip them on their back and hold them for awhile. Usually, that takes care of it--of course, I only do that if I get bit. The only time it happens is when I'm cleaning, which takes extra time in their hutch. Also, you can reach in and pet or pin if it's just a quick, one handed operation.

Oreo is probably the only bun I have that fights really hard to not get put on her back, she's been this way since we got her. I end up feeling bad, or like i'm being too rough so I always just give up and let her go on her way. I have pinned her down though, just for a minute, until she chills out and then goes back to her normal self.

Bugsy loves to be carried and held and lay on his back.. ive carried him like a little baby before! Its truly amazing how different they can be, just like us I suppose! My boys are complete opposites!

On Saturday it will be day 10 (if she is preggo) and I have been watching youtubes and reading like crazy on the proper way to palpate. i'm so scared about that. really I am..
