The baby boy is named "Spook" and the baby girl is named "Spice". Gotta have halloween/fall names :).

I separated them today. They are so sad/scared. I never imagined I would say this, but I hope the grow up fast! I want the little boy to get bigger so he can go into the FN with the big boys and the little girl needs to get bigger, so she can be spayed.

I have a feeling I will be keeping the little girl even if I don't want to :p! I posted an ad on my local craigslist and no one has responded yet. I posted it two days ago.

Ryan can't be mad if no one comes forward to adopt :biggrin2:!

aww! Spook is such a cute name, you should totally keep him. i really worry about myself when i get out on my own....a rabbit(Jamie) a cat(Prince, hopefully) and i'll prolly end up with at least one gecko and a few rats:shock:. i'm scared of myself........:pullhair:

Ryan noticed that the baby male is "so cute" and has a bone shaped white spot on his tummy, as well as a heart shaped spot. If I was to keep him, I really want a name that is fall-like or Halloween-ish.
 my little rattie looks JUST like that rat except he has 2 heart shapes on his belly and a line between them (could get pics later when I find the camera)

Amy, we were at Petco last night and as always, I had to go look at the baby rats. The cage that my girls came from was full of teeny baby girls... They looked like they were maybe 4 weeks old, they had the cutest baby faces and were definitely younger than my girls. I so wanted to grab some because I know probably EVERY SINGLE ONE will be fed to something. Poor little babies! Then when we were checking out, there was a little cardboard container with a baby rat in it at the register, the people ahead of us decided not to get it for their snake. I was so tempted to say, "that's it!" and buy that baby and a couple other same gendered babies.
The problem is, if you buy the rats then a few more will be put in its place. :( I have thought the same many times!

Shiloh lives in Alaska, though. She would have to travel hundreds of miles to adopt rats. Just because pretty much the only way for her to get rats is at the pet store, doesn't mean she shouldn't let rats back into her life again :p.

I think that in the case where the pet store is your last option, then it's, well...your last option. Those rats need homes to. In the event where they are being bred as feeders, you buying a few will not end rats being bred to be fed to snakes. It is inevitable.

ETA: No one has come forward to adopt Spice (the girlie). I did post an ad on my local Craigslist, just to see if I could at least TRY to find a loving home.

Sorry, I should have looked at location first. :(
Wish I was closer, been offered a free little girl but dont want to take her until I find a friend for her (I only have boys).

I know, it stinks. Both Spook and Spice are in the Rat Manor cage, which I have split in half. Both are alone. I feel so bad for them! At least I can give Spook play time in the tubby with my big boys. Spice can have play time in the tubby with Spartan, since he is neutered.
