Ok well since I told everyone that Bracken was pregnant you have all been really surportive and given me lots of advice, which is great, thanks! I know most of you wanted me to get Bracken spayed straight away, I thought about it but in the end its just something that I couldnt bring myself to do. Although she is still quite young I believe that she can get through the pregnancy and hopefully will be spayed a few weeks later.

Im not holding my breath for the litter to survive but if they did I'd be so made up. Ive found lots of people who would be willing to buy one [most are friends who have each had rabbits before so I'l know they'd go to good homes] Just to make sure though has anyone ever made any sort of "fact sheets" with information about rabbits on that people can take home? If so what sort of things would you put on it?

Il keep everyone undated.

  • a treat list (what they can and can't have)

I have to go, but I'll post more later.

Don't forget to include the address to our forum and encourage the new owners to join and be active.

Infact....have them join now and start learning, regardless if the litter survives or not (sending good thoughts your way), that way....they will already be prepaired :)!

Bracon, I just posted a reply on your other thread ("Bracon's pregnant").

I would want to be very careful of people who think they want a rabbit without having any real understanding of what that means.... but I'll leave the rest for you to read over there

Best!

I am thinking about a fact sheet for when i sell/give my bunnies to the people who want one... I plan to be very choosey about who will receive one or two... als i plan on starter package to go with them... water bottl ... feed... hay and care fresh ... and food bowl and may be a toy....I know it will not be cheap doing so but i want to know they are taken care of... and if for some reason they end up having to rehome them that they can always bring them to me and i will find them an apropriate home...

good luck with your babies... my thoughts are with bracon...

There Rabbit cheat sheet is here it was made a while back but you could take a lot from it and add anything else you wanted, and print out a booklet for them. :)

If it were me I'd be sure to inspect the housing etc they have arranged before you even considered it. A rabbit hutch should be 6x2x2 foot, according to the RSPCA, but you should advise the people about sheds and playhouses, even better advise them about indoor bunnies. If they are going with outdoor make sure they have a good sized, secure run, the ones you make yourself are a lot better than anything you can buy in a Petshop.

Some good links for hutches, food, hay etc.you should give them;

The Happy Hutch Company

Bunny Basics

Rabbit Rehome (loads of UK specificinfo)

The Hay Experts

I would suggest asking for a deposit from each person who wants a bunny once they're a week old or so. This will ensure the potential new owners really are serious (you wouldn't believe how many times I've been let down at last minute by people who "definitly want the bunny!") and will also give you enough time to find alternative homes should they back out.

Info sheets are a great idea, and of course link them here!:D

Good luck with her pregnancy, how far along is she now?

i always put on my sheets that if for any reason the peoples circumstances change then i would expect them to bring the rabbit back to me rather than letting it go loose or giving it to a rescue

I would also try to sell any sisters in pairs, that way you know that they will definitely live with another bunny, and tell anybody who takesa single bun that their bun willneed company as soon as they have been fixed. Other than that everyone has given great advice on other aspects.:)

PICTURES WHEN BORN PLEEEASE!!!! :)

Okay, I'm back! I'll continu the list!

  • rabbit warnings (like signs you'll see if they'r sick or hurt)
  • what kind of brushes work (belive me, it may sound silly but it took me 6 yerars to find a good brush!)
  • how to use a harness and if it's right for your bunny
  • rabbit proffing your house (how to do it, and what you need to move or git rid of)
  • stuff about their teeth and how they need to chew
  • I like the idea about giveing them this froum so they came study up.
  • Mabey a list of local buun savvy vets
  • grooming 101
That's all I can think of.

I think that if you make the list you should post a copy on the froum, so people can print it out and us it to!!

Hope I was some help,

-TK :)
