Ok so I knwo I buy the revolution for cats.

How do I split it up. Storm needs something. I just found out the flee outside are horrible. I am not getting this from a rabbit savy vet. So I could use some help on splitting the dose for storm I am getting the cat dose there is only one size he will get this every month from now on.

Thanks for your help

Storm is 1.5 pounds

Usually the shelter uses revolution for kittens and puppies so the cat dosage will be stronger. What does the insert say in terms of mg per package ? Like how many mg are in each vial?

revolution is the same as selamectin

dosage is 6 mg per kg
1 kg = about 2.2lb
so a 1.5 lb rabbit would only get about 4 mg applied topically between the shoulder blade and high enough up on the neck so he cannot reach it

So I can use the dog type also cause I am putting everyone on revolution.

Phoenix Echo and Storm. And Echo and Phoenix will both use the dog one my vet said that they are the same but I did not know about storm.

I need to know the strength or you can tell me the color of the box.

I AM NOT A VET

I am relaying info from medi-rabbit ; ideally your vet should know this info ; he isn't very rabbit saavy

I am getting the green box no he is not.

So I dont have to buy as much. He is selling me the big box. He is seperating everything for me. This is my cat and dogs vet he know I foster cats and kittens around this time of year. So he is trying to save me as much money as possible I tolds him about storm he said find out the dose I will split it or you also.

So he is not storms vet. Although I am trying to get him to go back and learn about rabbits cause I love this guy

In the box it should say it is for a certain wt dog and give a certain number of mgs per vial

can you find that for me.

Idont have it in hand yet he is seperating it i go pick it up tomorrow. Morning thats why I was trying to figure out.

The weight on the package I am buying is 41 to 86 pounds. The biggest dog box possible. But my vet is seperating them out to the right weight for my dog and foster cat.

And he was going to seperte storms out for me also.

This is going to be very difficult. The green box I believe has 240 mg per vial and Storm should only have 4 mg.
it is way easier if you could buy one package for the rabbits that has less mg per vial like for puppies and kittens
Do you understand what I'm saying...
if the vet figures out storm's dose he needs to know the amount of (ml) liquid in each vial and then figure out the tiny amount that would be 4 mg.
I would run anything told to you by either this forum or preferably just call your rabbit vet and ask him.
i have to go to my shelter this afternoon so I will have to leave this for now,

Ok I see we will buy a smaller one that would be easier to seperate.

So 4mg per dose for storm no mater what size I buy ok thanks I got it

To any one that can answer. does the meds that help prvent ear mites and such work the same way in rabbits as they do the cats and dogs.

yeh based on his weight

Ibelieve that the shelter has doses for 6 lb animals which makes it easier.

according to medi-rabbit selamectin (Revolution) is 6mg/kg for rabbits and Storm is just a little bit over 1 kg.

There is a difference between some of the dosages of Revolution, there are two different strengths.

Cat, puppy/kitten, and small dog (10lbs) are all 60mg/ml. The rest of the products are 120mg/ml and the only other difference is in the amount of liquid in the tubes. (The mauve tube contains .25cc or about .25ml of liquid.)

If the proper dosage for rabbits is 6mg/kg, that translates to .1ml of the 60mg concentration or .05ml of the 120. I use insulin syringes to draw up the solution so I can get an accurate reading.
