I got one moving but he seems to be gone again? Does that mean I've lost it? I'm still working on the others.

I tried to do it with the little babies I had but it just didn't work:cry1:. Maybe princess has something wrong with her that all her kits are born dead??

Warm it up. Some people tuck them in their bras. It's not dead until its warm and dead. I have a feeling there is something else you can do, but I can't remember, sorry.

No sure this one was alive just chilled, it was moving and breathing.
Oh what time did she have them around? Maybe thumper is too big for princess??
No he's smaller and what would that have to do with her kits getting chilled when their born :rollseyes

I am so sorry the little one didn't make it either, You did your best.

Ohh From the pics he looks way bigger then princess.

Well I haven't been able to revive anymore of the babies and can't get the little guy that I did revive to come back around, they were probably born a couple of hours before I got to them and were gone too far to bring back, they were gorgeus and very dark babies, they had perfectly formed little teeth and nails, they were perfect other then the fact I couldn't bring them around, I wish I could have got to them sooner, I miss them already :cry2 I am keeping them inside near the radiator for a little while longer, just incase.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier to help.

For future reference, if you want to warm a baby bunny I've found the best way is to emerse them in water that is slightly warmer than they are and to gradually warm the water. The water will start colder than your temperature, but as long as it is slightly warmer than them it will be warming them. I stress to do this slowly. If you do it too quickly you'll start to see signs of life but then the stress of warming too quickly will shock them and they will die.

I agree that a bunny is not dead until it is warm and dead. If it is absolutely frozen solid there is no help for it (as I found with my last two Hollands that left their nest box). However, if it is slightly pliable it can be saved. I have saved bunnies that were pretty darned stiff before. If I can move their legs I have found there is hope for them.

I would not suggest putting the baby in a bra or by a heater. This is going to warm them far quicker than you would want them warmed. Gradual seems to be the only way their little systems can take it.

Sorry to hear of your loss.It is always sad to lose little ones before they ever get a chance in this world. :cry2

he probably wants to look bigger:biggrin2:
Lol, she's not too much bigger length wise but is taller and broader and just bigger then him. We tried the water thing too but I just couldn't get the other bunnies round, my mam helped too and I was gently rubbing their backs aswell, the little guy I got moving only stayed with me for a few minutes, they were just too far gone to get them around.

Don't be hard on yourself. Sometimes there's just nothing you can do. I call the ones you are able to save "miracles" as they really seem to be. You did all you could.

Sorry again for your loss.

I wish I could have gotten the one little guy I got going to stay but I suppose it wasn't ment to be :(. Princess is doing fine as usual and you would never think she just had a litter.

For what it's worth, I've found Lionheads to be easier to breed and more resilient. The Hollands have tended to lose their first litter for whatever reason. Sometimes it is due to them spreading out the babies, or having them outside the nestbox, or having very small litters, or having stuck kits. They're not the easiest breed to raise, that's for certain. Princess might be disposed to this due to the fact that she is genetically partially a Holland. Heck, she could go on to be a great mother as some of my Hollands are, but it's not uncommon for them to lose their first litter. I think I read somewhere that the percentage of lost litters was close to 50%....which certainly doesn't sound like great odds. For me that has been about right for one reason or another. They're definitely not the easiest breed I've worked with, that's for sure.

Was Princess bred to another Lionlop?

She has had two litters, the first ones were born dead and the second she spread out like this, I don't think I'll breed her again. She was bred to a smaller agouti dwarf, the one in my sig.
