Hi guys!!
Not sure how many of you remember me, but I see a lot of familiar screen names still posting so I thought I'd pop in and say hey...
I haven't been on the forum in over a year, due to quite a bit of real life issues, and frankly, lack of rabbits. You may remember my Flemish boy, Breakfast... He passed away about 8 months ago. After that I just couldn't with rabbits for quite some time. I seem to have the absolute worst luck with simply keeping them alive and it was extremely disheartening because I had always done everything by the book with my rabbits, going above and beyond for them, with the end result usually being the same: premature death. Around this time the last of my rats had died also, though all from old age. After that I just had the dog (Karly)and that was enough for me.
During this hiatus I've also had some other major life changes, most notably I divorced from my wife, moved to Chicago, and just recently moved to the state of California a little over a week ago for a "fresh" start, as much as that is possible. I was hired on with a nannying agency and start that next week... All in all a lot of major life changes, but it looks like things are settling and going my way finally, which I'm very happy about. Once the dust settled from the moving trucks, I felt like I could venture into rabbit-mommyhood again, and adopted a little girl who is slowly but surely turning into a house rabbit. I was going to wait a few months, but you know how it happens more often than not, they'll come to you in unexpected ways. So far she's just been another reason for me to smile day to day, and I'm reminded constantly why I'd always had a rabbit around before. She's unlike many of my past bunns so she is not a shadow of them nor a bittersweet presence in our home.
Anyway so after that long ramble, I'm back on the forum and excited to start sharing our journey with our new family member.
