Yesterday was bun cage-cleaning day. All seemed well, but last night I noticed that Mariah's left eye was wet and there was definite discharge. Her other eye seems fine and her nose is clear, but her one eye looks quite goopy. From what I can tell, the eye discharge seems to be clear, but there may be some slight discoloration to it. She's eating and drinking normally and she's pooping and peeing as usual. Is this something that warrants an immediate trip to the vet?

I initially thought she most likely got something in her eye, but with the babies and all of my other buns in the same room, I want to be sure that waiting is what I should be doing. She's very, very difficult to handle and I just know a trip to the vet would be incredibly stressful on her (and me). She is my foster and she's just very distrustful though she is getting better. And, honestly, I'd prefer not to run out to the vet, but of course would do so if necessary.

So, what do you all think?

Well, as you know, it's very hard to make an accurate diagnosis without actually seeing Mariah. To me however, it seems likely to be just an irritation based on the fact that the discharge is clear. If the discharge is viscous and goopy, it could also be an eye infection, but in my experience, eye infection junk is usually white or pale yellow. Just my $.02

Sorry to hear of Mariah's eye problem, its always so hard to tell if they are eating, pooing and peeing.. But that being said, if the EPP's are being had its half of the battle (always liken it to a human having a cold/flu episode). Good luck to you and Mariah..

I had completely forgotten that I even wrote this post. So I'm sorry for not responding or updating sooner. But I'm here now with good news.

Mariah's eye has returned to normal. She must've had something either in it or that had irritated it. But it looks okay now and is no longer wet and there's no discharge at this point.

So I'm quite happy at this point :). Thanks again.
