Hi. I'm new to owning a rabbit and also this forum. We recently rescued a continental giant a few days ago. He's 8 months old and has been a pleasure to have. He's very docile and friendly. He was laid down earlier today when I noticed something on his rear that looked quite sore. It looks like a rabbit dropping but then seems to contain blood and has been there all day. I'm not sure what it is or what it could potentially be so any help would be great. Iv booked him into the vets but we can't get in till Tuesday. Thankyou

Hi and welcome to RO! Congratulations on your new bun.

Where on the rabbit is this? I'm having trouble orienting myself.
Regardless of what it is, getting yourself established with a veterinarian is a great plan.

Sorry I'll add another photo I did think it was struggle to establish where it was. Since posting this iv done some research and I'm confident it's hutch burn (regardless still going to the vets) hutch burn would make sense as he was in a shed with a concrete base and a few other rabbits. as he's become more confident around us and we've been able to inspect him closer I think he's in need of a good check up and a trip to the groomers. Thanks

I'm not really sure but from the picture the tissue around it looks light pink not red, so at least it doesn't look like a spreading infected area- it looks more like something that is healing up nicely and getting smaller to me. Hopefully vet will know what it is.

It's about where his testicle would be, provided he's not neutered. So it may be that with a bit of his poop stuck to the fur. Though a check up is always a good idea for a new bun, and if there is in fact blood in his droppings, then that definitely needs to be checked right away. For the vet visit, I would suggest bringing in some fresh droppings with you as well as any of the droppings that seem to have blood in them. If there is any decline in his condition, has diarrhea, mucous or blood in the stool, and/or stops eating, you will need to get to a vet right away.
