Refusing to use Litter Tray - HELP!!

Ok so I got some Critter Litter and have been madly soaking up urine to put in it and collecting poo to put in. They sit in it, have a sniff and then start digging and throw everything everywhere!!!

Then continue to poo and wee whereever they like.

What now???

Are you using bedding in their cages still? Are you using a cat litter box? And putting hay in it, to get them to sit in the litter box?



It's gonna take some time. Keep soaking it up. Keep doing what your doing. Sorry. Sounds like their just stubborn.

Thanks for getting back to me April, they have bedding in their cage with a litter tray in it. The litter tray has a base of newspaper and then critter litter in it. I have put it to one corner with their food bowl and water bottle so to eat or drink they ahve to sit in the litter tray.

i;ve been letting them out in a small space for a run I felt so bad keeping them cooped up, they have a tray same as in their cage to one side and will chill out sitting in it and occasionally wee or poo in it but are still spray pooing everywhere!

Am I doing something wrong?

You may want to change to a Cat litter box. That may help. You can still use the newspaper and critter litter in it. And I would NOT put bedding in their cage. That's probably confusing them. They may think it's litter too. Put cardboard down instead. Iwould start their first and stop using bedding.

Sounds like your doing everything right. I just wouldn't use bedding anymore. Let me know if it works. Thanks...April

It took me a while to figure outwhich litter box they preferred. Bebe kept peeing in her food bowl. So I changed it to her litter box. Now she is perfect with her habits.

She is probably saying, "Dumb slave, it took you long enough to see that I use this as my litter box."

She is so smart, that she will pee in onedish and poop in the other. She also sleeps in there.

I never use bedding on my cage floors. :yeahthat: As you can see in the above picture.

This is what my cage looks like for my Netherland Dwarf Pebbles.

These are small cat boxes I used when my bunnies were little. I have bigger ones now. You can see I use cardboard for flooring or nothing under it.

I put cardboarddown for traction and they like to chew on it-Tear it up. Gives them something to do. Good luck!
