Hey everyone,

My bunny has been having red urine the past two days, im not sure what it is. Her feeding schedule has been off this past weekend because i went out of town and had my family take care of her. Other than that I have no idea what it could be. Does anyone have any ideas??????:brown-bunny

Red is considered one of the "normal" color possibilities for rabbit urine, though I've heard that that particular color is usually linked to stress or diet. having her owner out of town/getting bunny-sat and having her feeding schedule be off a bit could certainly have caused some minor, temporary stress.

in other words, it's nothing to worry about :)

---alarming,-yes--until you examine both the rabbit and the diet,--hopefully the diet is to blame --too many vegy,s,,--proper diet for a herbivore is 70% grasses ie.timothy/orchard (hay)--some quality pellets,(per weight)--and water..-some treats,-vegy,s etc--.here is a link just in case it is other http://www.medirabbit.com --R.O.L.--also has lots of info,-sincerely james waller--:brown-bunny

The color variation in rabbit urine comes from them processing the carotenoids in their diet differently than we do. Leafy greens are actually full of red, orange and yellow carotenoids and a change in the diet can definitely change the color of the urine.
