Yes, garlic and I have a close personal relationship.

Putting jalepenos in the stew sounds awesome, Carolyn! I love hot and spicy. Mmmmmm.

A good website for recipes iswww.epicurious.com You can plug inanything and they'll give you tons of recipes. I made some spicy shrimpfrom that website that were so good, and a complete hit with everyoneI've ever made them for, even my husband who doesn't even like shrimp!

Hmmm. May have to revise my plans and go to the store now, so I canmake the stew tomorrow. When I make something like stew or soups in mycrock pot, I like to have it all going by 10am at the latest, so it canslow simmer all day long.

Bunsforlife - I've always wanted to make a roast in my crock pot, buthave never done it. Care to share your secret for sucess? Especially ifit has lots of garlic.....

Thanks for the website, Stephanie!

I bookmarked it.

No problem! My brother's girlfriend clued me in to it. So far I've made about five meals from it, and we were very happy.

Good to other cooks out there. :)

Steph,

A word to the wise: Don't put too many jalapenos in it. I reallyoverdid it and *pphwwww* HOT! Once it's that hot, you can't cool it offunless you double the recipe of vegetables and beef to cut into it.

After my stew simmered for awhile and the jalapenos cooked out, it wastoo "hot" for me. Buck Jones would've added more spice. The man eatsfresh jalapenos like they're baby carrots.

I'll try it again and get it just right the next time.

I'm glad you posted this because it really is hard to find a good oldfashioned beef stew recipe. Adding flour at the end really made itwonderful. I only have to adjust the jalapenos and I think I've got it.

Oh yeah, garlic is the spice of life!!

We were actually in Gilroy last summer, and that whole town smells likegarlic!! You can literally taste it as you drive through.

How Cool!

Did you partake?

My brother roasted a whole bunch of garlic flowers with butter andserved it with dinner. He gave us all seafood forks to pick out thegarlic cloves from the flower. Did that accent the dinner he servedthat night!

Not only was it different and pretty, but no matter what you put itwith on the plate, it worked. Personally, I just picked a few clovesout and ate them alone. My mouth still waters when I think of it.

Well for my roast I just get a nice piece of meat. (Either Pork or Beef)

Trim off the fat, brown the outside and then put it aside for aminute. I usually wash and peel enough carrot to cover thebottom of the pot, to keep the roast from the bottom. I thenthrow in a stalk of celery cut into big chunks.

Next I peel a lotta garlic. Then cut slits into the roast invarying depths to insert the garlic cloves. I usually overdoit since I LOOOOOOVE garlic =) I am tempted to get one ofthose injector thingies to push it farther in.

Then I put the roast on top of the veggies, pour a can of chicken brothover the roast and top it with kosher salt and fresh gratedpepper. Then I put the crock pot on low. About anhour before dinner time, I put the crockpot on high just to finish upthe roast. And when it is ready, it just falls apart withtenderness =)

Now... do I have time to run to the store, get the supplies for Beef stew, and get it made before I gotta go to work hehe.

We're going grocery shopping today, one of thosemajor shopping trips. Some of the things on my list are for beef stew. It's going to be good eating here, as Thanksgiving is Oct. 11. So notonly do I get to make beef stew, but I'm also going to make a full onThanksgiving dinner.

As I'm American, we'll also celebrate the American Thanksgivingholiday, so I get to make two dinners. Thanksgiving is just such awonderful time of year and nothing beats a traditional Thanksgivingmeal.

Carolyn, roasted garlic on bread is sooooo yummy. What your brother didbasically. I used to do that and spread the garlic on a lightly toastedbaquetee. Mmmmmm. Ever have brie on baguette? That's good too.

Oh Steph!

Now you'll have me thinking of a ThanksgivingDinner!

*giggles* Just kidding.

Look at what you've started! bunsforlife is making it too!

Of course, I didnt follow any recipe hehe, but we will see what happens!

I put extra stew meat in mine because I do love beef. But Iadded a jalepeno this time because that sounded yummy! Didnthave any bay leaves tho :X

I know you'll enjoy it!

I never realized how many jalapeno lovers we have. I thought people would be repulsed by the idea.

Ahh well, least the beef stew will be nummy! but the odds are10:1 that Gir will try to crawl in the bowl to eat some too.He will seriously eat ANYTHING.

Also, I have my Butterball turkey thawing for Monday. Going to make afull on Thanksgiving dinner, down to the cranberry sauce. Ok, I admit,I like the jellied cranberry sauce, but whatever.

After all of this, I'm going to make that roast. :D

Don't you all just love fall cooking?

I do love fall and winter cooking. It's all comfort food.

As to the jellied cranberry sauce, I love to see it in the shape of thecan plopped into a Lenox orcrystalbowl. Mom does that and it always cracks me up.
