Hello everyone! I'm sure no one remembers me, as I haven't been on here since 2009, and only made 2 posts! My name is Malorey, and I've never owned a Rabbit. I've been thinking of getting one/two for years, but just never did.

Well, I might get one tonight, as I'm attempting to catch a loose one! I will make another thread with more details, as this is just an introduction, but yes!

I plan to be more active on here, especially if I am successful, as I'll have a bunny to talk about!

Nice to be here, and see you all around!

Hi,

Is this a wild bunny or someone toss one because they got tired of it? If its a wild one, just let it go, it's supposed to be wild. If its a throw away, wishing you success in catching it. Definitely deserves a good life with someone who wants to get to know their charge.

Look forward to hearing about your new fur buddy. Definitely a lot of rabbit people here who enjoy talking about their rabbits.

Thank you for the welcome ZRabbits! Yes, it is one someone let loose, and in a terrible part of town too. I am so worried for it! I've went out twice to try to catch it with no luck.

Did you research any rabbit rescue organization that could be around you? Maybe they have some way to help you catch this bunny.? I've never caught a wild rabbit, but caught tons of squirrels in an humane trap to transport. I used peanut butter to lure them in and checked the cage regularly. I don't know if a rabbit will go in one, but maybe they will with a little hay and greens.

Wish I could be of more help. Hoping you are successful in saving this rabbit.

We have no rabbit rescue in the area, no. I'd use a humane trap, but the thing is this rabbit is in an area away from my home, and in an area where people would mess with the trap, especially because there are A LOT of children. These past two times, I've just tried to grab, or throw a blanket over him, and then grab him. I am able to get a couple inches away, but then once I get just a little bit closer, he runs off. I am thinking of getting a net from my grandparents, this way, I could be farther away, but still be able to (with hopes) get him because he could possibly not notice the net, since I usually go out at night, when you can tell people are asleep or out, and I won't be seen as much, and cause people to come near.

The net sounds like your best option. But just be careful. Hope you aren't going by yourself. Ask a few people to come with you and help. Wishing you luck.

Nope, I go out with my mother! Her friends and herself also have been trying to catch him, when they go to a bar near where the Rabbit is, but no luck from them either, but they also didn't just have a net or other option on hand, you know?

Also, could someone lead me to a part of the forum with care information? I have some knowledge, but not as much as I should, so would like to do some reading!

Treats such as raisins, apple slices [no seeds] or carrot slices might help you catch him. Also a heavy bowl of water or diluted juice would be something it's surely needing.

Also all the individuals trying to catch is would be better off going together & trying to surround it, so that if & when it bolts, one of you may possibly be able to grab it.

Maybe you could enlist a kids' baseball or softball team to help. They might like to try out their catching skills in another way.

Go to the library section for more information on care.

I will bring some treats along this time! Though, I'm worried he'd not come for them, and just run off if I do a lot of moving around, rather than just going for the catch, you know? Not saying it'd go that way, but I just am so anxious to have him caught that I don't want to risk anything! Though, I suppose anything is a risk, because even with a net there isn't a 100% chance I'll get him!

I told my mother that her friends and her should have surrounded it! I was thinking that exact same thing, as there is always enough of them! I was really wishing I'd had a friend or two around when I was attempting to get him, as my mom didn't want to leave the car.
