having a house of critters became a serious concern the other morning--4am-when i heard fire=!!--say what??--my wife and i were engulfed in dense thick smoke fighting for our very lives-we didnot and could not give up fighting the flames--what seemed like forever,--we did get the fire under control-then out,-the after math examination of the scene i found a space heater cord which was chewed into exposing the copper conductors--i am and have been a strong advacote for a covering/tubing to prevent such an accident -yes,this heater cord is now covered-like all other cords,---this is/was a most horrifying experience,--it was preventable and we only lost things which can be replaced--not our critters,-to whom we are heros but i have my reservations-:?ray:--sincerely james waller--:biggrin::shock:ray::innocent:big wink:

Wow, glad everyone is okay! That is quite scary! Oh, the importance of bunny proofing... :/

I am so glad that everyone is alright. It certainly could have turn out differently. My daughter had a house fire a few years ago, the results of the house having once been a growop and the people tampered with the wiring. They were not as lucky as they lost all their small animals that had been in the basement area. Thank goodness you didn't have to deal with that.

thank you for all the responses,-it is imperative that something be done for the safety of loved ones-furry or not,-during a fire one is very fortunate to escape-unscathed--my heart goes out to those who cannot and perish--this is now my worst nightmare come true and we cannot do much until we move into a new residence--whereas they will have their own quarters,--until then i continue to try and kid/critter proof our habitat,--sincerely james waller--ray::shock::X:innocent:big wink::lookaround:rollseyes
