I'm sorry about the littlest one. It's good that the other two are doing well.

The chances are that it had some sort of internal problem that stopped it growing/feeding/thriving, and so no matter what you or the mum did, it would have died.

You gave it the best chance though, and that's all anyone can do.

I'm sorry you lost the little one. :( Thanks for trying to help him. I agree with Flashy. I suspect there was a congenital problem or defect. Something that prevented him from suckling or digesting. You did all you could. Hugs to you for trying.

Update, Both baby rabbits seem to be doing fine.

and are looking pretty darn adorable:biggrin2::bunnyheart

That's fantastic! Can you see their fur growing yet?

I clicked on the picture, and got a bigger view.

You can see the fur is coming in nicely. One looks like it's going to be a lovely orangish colour.

They both look healthy from what I could see. Their eyes should open within the week, I think.

Both rabbits are still ok, though we've noticed that one rabbit has grown considerably faster and is now much larger than the other (The brown rabbit is almost double the size). Both rabbits... pee'ed on me today.. i assume that means they're being fed still, but we're worried about the smaller, grey one. If held in an open palm it sort of wobbles from side to side but apart from that shows no real signs of being much weaker. I was wondering if you could help us in discerning whether this is normal behaviour / growth for baby rabbits (and also whether it means that they dislike me!)
Thanks in advance.

It might be worth having a read of Blue Eyed White Babies. Polly had/has a similar situation. There are a few reasons why the size might vary (i.e. dwarfing gene, some sort of internal problems, etc). If you feel the kit is weaker, maybe you could encourage mum to feed it a bit more?

I'm glad they are still doing ok though :)

I haven't read anything in what you said that indicates they may not like you. What makes you think they don't?

Both of them peeing on me seemed like a sign they might not like me, especially after they had been held by other people! Oh and i forgot, it's day 11 and they still haven't opened their eyes.

No, that's not a sign they don't like you :) That's a sign they needed a wee. Baby buns are VERY good at weeing on people. At this age, they are babies (obviously) and therefore much more trusting than adult buns, and so the only way they wouldn't like you is if you gave them reason to not like you, and you clearly love them, so haven't done that :)

Kits will open their eyes anytime from day 10 to day 14. If you haven't seen them open from the 14th, or if you see them open and then close, then you need to bathe the eyes, but don't prise them apart, just a warm compress bathe should help.
