I am looking to update my rabbit equipment, kind of my wish list. LOL

I raise Silver Fox rabbits, they range 9-12lbs.

I was looking at the 3 stack 30"X36" Basse Equipment cages with maybe the swing out doors. Also added 6 auto watering nozzles to the cart and the total came out to $297.

I wanted the larger cages, but will they warp, sag, or bow really bad?

Does anyone have issues with Basse Equipment 3 stack cages?

How about the auto watering nozzles?

I know some people don't like the auto waterers, but it gets hot here in NC and the SF does really go through some water. My biggest irk is coming out to bone dry water bottles in the morning, so I'd like to upgrade to autowaterers.

I just wanted to see how people like this equipment before spending $300 and finding out the hard way. LOL

Thanks!

There's usually a support bar running down the center of large cages (or you can install one yourself). I also use a very heavy guage wire when constructing cages for large rabbits.

So would you suggest making your own cages over buying?

I've asked other forums about making my own cages. Most people said that I wouldn't save very much money and that homemade wire cages would be lower quality than storebought. This seemed the normal response from multiple breeders.

There is a local feed store that sells good quality rabbit wire in bulk(or by the foot) because I really considered making my own cages.

I know homemade hutches are good, but I'm talking about wire cages that I could stack.

:biggrin2:

Thanks a ton!
