I was wondering where you've been!

I love dell! I wish I wouldve known and I couldve ordered you one with my student discount- my mom did this for my brother and I was able to order it in my name but finance it in hers.

Vista is a pain in the butt but Im sure this will really be an upgrade for you. Also, dont know if you had this option on your old computer but with the new Windows Explorer you can have multiple tabbed pages, which Ive found seems to take up less space (ie not slow your computer down as much) when you have so many open at once.

Oh and if you have a radio shack near you go buy a 4GB Sandisk jump drive on sale for 30.00 and you can copy/paste all your pics and docs there. Or you can create backup CDs so its not all on your computer weighing you down.

Congrats on your new purchase! Maybe you can sell some fertilizer to help pay it off

It sounds like you got a good deal. I have a dell laptop and love it, haven't had any problems with it yet in the 2 + years I've had it... I would recommend sticking with XP, though. Iworked with Vista for 3 weeks while house sitting, and never did warm up to it. The negative outweighs the positive, IMO.

As a thought, have you ever considered running Linux? there are some live disk versions out there now (namelu Ubuntu) that work a little more like windows, but don't seem to crash that much, and viruses are typically aimed at windows, so that's a bit of an added benefit... But pay no attention to me, I'm biased

Now I really need a printer. onder: (Couldn't evict George, my previously-homeless couch dweller, because my landlord didn'tprint his notice and missed the deadline). :grumpy:

They have a lot of cheap printers at Walmart for like 30.00. The HP ones are usually pretty decent and very inexpensive.
