She is a very lucky bunny to be at such a good home with you, too know that you willl take very good care of all her babies. How many did she have in the first litter?

The shelter shouldn't have put her with another bunny if she was pregnant or had just had babies. Girl or boy.....

Morning (-ish) update: Jazzy ate a lot, pooped a ton, and was doing binkies when I let her out. Her underside looks better although still slightly swollen. She had 1-2 drops of blood in her litterbox, which my vet sais is ok for now since she is eating/drinking/pooping/peeing and active, as long as the bleeding doesn't continue.

The blood in the nestbox was definitely from the dead babies. There must have been a larger injury on one, I couldn't bring myself to look too closely. I had wrapped them in paper towels and I could see that at least one had definitely still been bleeding slowly. I don't have a good place to bury them here so I brought them in to the shelter for cremation.

The new babies are now entered into the shelter records, and they promised to get my older babies listed on Petfinder as soon as I bring in some pictures, and to get the other shelter rabbits listed too. Hopefully that will drum up some adopters.

BTW for those concerned, the Sheboygan County Humane Society tries to be no-kill for rabbits and they've been able to go without euthanising one for well over a year. From what I heard about thatlast rabbit, it was an extreme case and then there was another long space without euthanizing rabbits.

I can handle the babies' expenses but if anyone wants to donate to the shelter please do! The dog section is quarantined with a very bad strain of kennel cough and I'm sure treating all of them is getting expensive.

That's the thing, they didn't know she was pregnant when she came in. And someone screwed up with deciding on which rabbits went in which cages and nobody caught it so she was living with one of the males she came in with from day 1 till she had the babies. It sounds like a bizarre mistake and everyone's pretty upset thattheir oversightcaused a second pregnancy.

It's a lot of work. I'll be pulling my hair out when the new batch is out of the nest box and the older ones too young to go the the shelter, but I'm ok for now. I'm not sure how I'll work out playtimes since I don't want the older babies jumping around on top of the newborns. I guess give Jazzy priority because she's much larger in proportion to her cage, although I want to make sure I have time to handle each baby every day.

Zappa has at least two more vet visits for shots but James is handling those because his schedule works better with when Dr. Bixler is at the clinic. He's done with oral meds now and is looking really good.

Oh! And the rex baby is very curly. Curlyrex up for adoption people!

Wow! I guess when it rains, it pours. Ms. Jazzy is quite the fertile lady! Good wishes to you, taking care of so many little ones, and to her, so she can regain the weight and strength that she needs! Also prayers that adoptions pick up again!

Im just so glad she is with you now and not at the shelter when she had the second litter. Imagine how stressful this is for her!

I wish I could be there to help you. I know how crazy it is to have babies around (mine was only a few days and I was going nuts). Theyre a lot of work when they get to around 5-6 weeks and are peeing everywhere! lol

I'll be praying for Jazzy and for strength for you and James. I know you have your hands full. I cant wait to see lots of pics of the new babies as they mature!

Oh wow! I didn't even relieze she had more babies!

I'd love to help if I can. I don't know if I can take any in though.
Do you need more cage space? I do have a small (like 24x24in) cage I got from a long time ago that you could barrow. It's a wire bottom but you could put something on the bottom of it, if you'd like to use it. I don't use it. :p I also have some big 3x3x3 ft cages that me and my dad built but they are heavy! I'm trying to think if I have any other cages around... I do have another. It's wire bottom too. Not even sure on the size.

Any other way I can help? I really want to!

Hey Boz! I'm good for cages and I can handle the cleaning, but if you want to come over on a weekend and play with the older babies that would be great. I want to make sure they're socialized with a number of different people so hopefully they won't be as shy at the shelter. I'm usually home all day Sunday, Saturdays change a lot.

Also, just keep working with the others at the shelter so we can hopefully get more of those adopted out.

I won't be here this weekend, but next weekend I will! I'll see about coming over!
The bunnies are getting extra attention since I don't get to go by the dogs. lol
On Wednesday when I go in I'll be sure to take out a couple of the really shy ones.
