Is there special precautions that we, as humans, should take to prevent our buns from catching things from us? Can they get sick if we have a flu or something like that? I never thought about this and was just wondering.

also if this isnt the right section feel free to relocate my post:)

Influenza strains as well as strains of other "flu" viruses (such as rotavirus) can indeed be passed between humans and rabbits.

In most cases, these viral infections have a tendency to be species specific and are not a general risk. Those most at risk are the very young, aged or immune suppressed individuals (such as chemo or organ transplant patients.)

It was also mentioned a couple times in the previously posted thread that there are numerous diseases that can be passed between humans and animals. I've got a list written by a microbiologist/rabbit judge somewhere in my pile of references :)

Wash hands and be careful about handling your rabbits when you are ill, or when the rabbits are ill.

Pam
