I just got off the phone with Zin and she and her family could use prayers....they're preparing for Gustav - but she has already lost a number of bunnies to the heat and stress of moving, etc. Many of them were her sanctuary bunnies - but one of them that she lost was Reveille - who many of you may remember pictures of.

At this point in time - the plan is to move all of the younger bunnies that can stand the stress of moving, etc. to Rusty's place. The pregnant heifers and steer are going there too. All of the house bunnies are already moved (this includes Mallory and Madilyn) along with George, Gabby, Sokee (sp?) - Zin's first bunny, Ori, Dodge, Frenchy, SKe-doosh, etc.

Zin's horses and pig will be staying at Lisa's (Jarred's mom). They have a barn that is built of bricks (or built like a brick - I forget...). Lisa lives on a hill - so while the winds could hit 140 mph and the storm surge could be 10' tall....they should be ok (except for loss of power). Zin's house however....could be gone depending upon the storm surge.

Rusty lives closer to the Houston area and while I'm sure they will feel the affects of the storm - they will not be in the heart of the storm.

In spite of her losses right now - Zin is trying to work hard to get everyone moved around and to safety.

I'm sure prayers would be appreciated for Zin - her family - her animals - and anything else you can think of to pray for them.

I'm just heartbroken that Zin lost Reveille as I know she was well-loved and socialized.

I was wondering about her today - I'm so sorry for the losses and hope everyone (and animals alike) stay as safe as possible.

MAJOR EDIT (but I will leave links to Reveille's pics)...

REVEILLE IS ALIVE!!!!!

There were a number of 4H helpers at Zin's to help in moving the rabbits. Reveille has her own carrier complete with bling on it...and somehow, Reveille's sister, Cadence, got put in Reveille's carrier - while Reveille got put in Cadence's carrier.

Zin kept noticing how FRIENDLY Cadence was being - which was very unusual for her - so she checked her ear tattoo.....and found out that Reveille was in Cadence's carrier and still alive and well.

Of course - Zin has still lost Cadence and many other of her sanctuary bunnies - but she will have to take time to grieve them later - after everyone is moved to safety.

So....Reveille is alive....long live Reveille!

Yeah.. so far my losses are at 23 adults..

Most were the elderly..

I have a number of the 4-H'ers here helping..with my health issues, and Rusty's newly broken leg, apparently people felt we needed the help..and it just got confusing..realistically, teenage boys don't get the girly concept of cute girl bunnies go in specific pink carriers with bling of their very own, and just shoved bunnies where they fit...

While I am sad to lose ANY bunny...and I am sad for Cadence..I am overjoyed to still have Reveille..

I did find it odd that Cadence, who usually cowers in fear, thinking im going to eat her, was just so overwhelmingly friendly...that's what made me check ears..

I hate hurricanes... honestly I do..

Prayers and good thoughts being sent your way. I understand from personal experience. We used to live in coastal NC and got some real walloping storms. Be safe.

zen... stay safe and I am so sorry about your recent losses... I will keep you and your family( human and pets) in my thoughts... I am waiting to see if we are going to have manditory evacuation tomorrow also... I am not going to go far because my husband is in the fire department and has to be able to get back in... and to any one in the path of this hurricane stay safe

That's just so sad :(

I am relieved that it wasn't Rev, but sad about Cadance!

I'm keeping them in prayers and I sure hope to hear they are all fine in a couple of days. Send her hugs from Indiana, please.

I'm so sorry for your losses, Zin. Your family is in my thoughts and stay safe. Pooey on Gustav! I'm glued to the tv watching the evacuation of New Orleans. :(
