Hi guys, i just took bunbuns out for a run becuase he'd been just sitting on his bed doing nothing and not even eating and also in my parents room there is some floor varnish thats peeling off and i saw bunbuns eats some and i grabed his mouth he ran away and im sure he ate it. Im totally freaked out on the verge of crying.. what can i do? I covered the spot with a blanket and his digging at it.

EDIT: usually her ears are warm but now there VERY cold.

HOw long ago did he eat the flooring? Is your vet still open? If not, it might be worth calling the emergency vet. I don't know how it works where you are, but here if you need help after hours you call the vet's number, and leave a message, and the vet that is on call will return your call within about 10-15 minutes. Then you can tell the vet what is going on and see if they think your animal needs to be seen.

He ate the flooring about 10-15 minutes ago and he is looking for more.. If i could call the vet there no way i can go since my car is in service..

Hmmm... Cold ears, lethargic and no interest in food leads me to believe he's not feeling too good.

To start with, I would make sure he's hydrated and warm. Put a towell in the dryer and wrap him with it. Get some pedialyte (electrolyte drink for dehydrated children) from a pharmacy and syringe some to him.

I'm sure more members will have some better advice.

He was just drinking water, i layed out alfalfa hay and timohty hay and pellets and he doesnt seem to even touch them. All he does is stand on the Air conditioner and pull the carpet.

I would try and get some pedialtye and food into him, maybe it will help it pass through quicker.

Keep your eyes on him, because things can go downhil quickly.

I would moniter him, and if he gets worse call the emergency vet, otherwise take him to the vet in the morning if its the same.

Good luck and ill keep you and BunBun in my thoughts x

You said he has been standing on the airconditioning vent? Could that be the reason his ears are cold? And was he acting low before he got ahold of the flooring, or not till after?

How is he doing now? Newer paints and varnishes are generally not dangerous when some dry pieces are ingested as they no longer contain dangerous metals. A small amount of dried varnish shouldn't have caused a problem for your rabbit.

How humid is it in your area? How hot is it? Ears feel warmer when held against the body and may feel rather cold when held up (except in very hot weather).

The house is about 30 years old and we've been living in it for 5 and the paint was done by the previous owner about 3 years ago so i dont think its the "new kind" its VERY VERY VERY humid outside. EXTRMELY.

I'd have some of thevarnish chips tested for lead, but your home was built around the time the laws were changing for metal content in paints/varnishes.

The humidity may very well be effecting your rabbit - it makes it very difficult for them to cool themselves effectively.

I took bunbuns outside and when we came back in she ears were warm and she was eating a drinking.. she pooped maybe once since 6 PM.

This is true if you are without a/c in the house. Once he comes in, should be fine within about a half hour. How's he doing now?

Just make sure he's eating and pooping. I wouldnt take him outside again cuz it might stress him out more if he isnt feeling well.

Glad to hear he is doing better! I know how scary it is when they start acting funny. Silly bunnies.
