My bunny is acting strange, I'm not sure why and it's really scaring me. here are some pictures:

She's breathing normally and everything. It's like she doesn't have the energy to move or anything.

Your bunny probably has an ear infection, he'll need to get to the vet for some antibiotics. I usually use an oral antibiotic as well as an injected one. You have to treat them pretty aggressively.

He doesn't look very old, how old is he?

Is he still eating and drinking?

Can you get him to a vet ASAP?

Not eating or drinking and being lethargic is a medical emergency.

Get to the vet ASAP!

  • Google Emergency Vets in your area
  • Write up a list of numbers
  • Call until you find one that can see Rabbits on an emergency basis
  • Keep her warm and calm

She doesn't look bad in the photos, what else were you feeding her? They do tend to try and jump and run the bunny 500 in their cages at that age. Her neck angle looks off. I'd guess that it was an injury, but no way to know for sure without a vet visit.

And to be honesst, I doubt she'll make it to the vet clinic, her organs appear to be shutting down. You can try, but I've never had one recover from this stage. :(

They will give her an injection of fluids and keep her warm.

I'm so sorry, it's so hard to watch. But it's actually really unlikely she's in any pain.

No rabbit pellets? Timothy Hay wouldn't have given her quite enough protein or calcium for a bun that age, but it's highly unlikely that caused this problem. How long have you had her?

How is she looking?

sas :(

Unfortunately no. We've had her for almost two months and I've become extremely attached. She's just laying down her breathing is stopping occasionally but then she'll take a deep breath and sometimes cry out. It's breaking my heart.:bawl:

Edit: She's gone.

It's just the body's reaction, the way the air is being processed by the lungs and diaphragm, it's honestly not a pain response. :(

They are such loving and loveable little things. It's so hard when you're losing them. :cry1:

edit: :rip: You may want to do a necropsy so you know what the problem was, but really really doubt it was diet or care-related.

So very sorry. In tears here too.

sas

Timothy Hay and carrots is definitely not a complete diet and personally I could see how it would lead to malnutrition in a rabbit, especially a growing one.
