Hi, I am new in these parts. I am not sure if this is the best place to ask this questions, but I can't seem to find a lot of info. Is there a place for people with outdoor bunnies to chat about specific outdoor issues? I know a lot of people don't agree with keeping Bunnies outdoors, but in our case it is the ONLY way for our family to have a pet. So, we will do it the best way we can! I know there are not as many out door as indoor, so where should I look?

What issues would you like to discuss regarding keeping bunnies outside. Though I do keep mine inside, I do know a little bit about keeping them outside as well. Maybe I can point you to the right information you need to help make you feel comfortable about leaving them outside.

Outside hutches have come a long way. Many different kinds out there that you can choose from or even make. Make sure your bunnies are in a shaded area. Just like inside, they don't do well in direct sunlight or drafts. Make sure you visit your bunny at least twice a day or more. Making sure fresh water is available is a must for any bunny inside or out. If you use bottles, make sure not leaking.

You can have a great relationship with a bunny inside or outside. It just depends how much effort you put into getting that bond going.

Im not sure how I managed to post in blogs, dope!

Mostly I just want to read what others have posted about outdoor bunnies. I didn't know if there was a subforum for outdoor bunnies, or not. Thanks!

Wow, never knew there even was a discussion ongoing regarding me and "stupid/dope" issue. And now it's an international discussion since this is an International forum?

Wow, lol Never ceases to amaze me.

Will continue to post in my blog and answer questions of concern. Choose to read them if you like.

Have a Nice Day. Be safe.

This was a comment about language shift over time. At some point, being on drugs [ie a dope] went from being bad to being good. As I understand it, when something is dope now means being good.

But why bring my name (Karen) into the conversation of the meaning shift from stupid to dope. And being on drugs in my World, it doesn't mean dope but a druggie. Have a lot of different names for those who abuse alcohol too, but getting of track of the discussion.

I answered the question on "Ditto" on another thread. But it was me (Karen) that was misunderstood and thought to call someone stupid. Which never happened. And all is cleared up regarding that incident.

So how did this start? Forget it, don't want to know.

Chrissyb was replying to your post & hers might have seemed to be calling you that & I wanted to make sure none of us old fogies misunderstood. But I'm sorry I bothered, when I get abused for trying to be nice. No good deed goes unpunished.

Sorry for the confusions. It was dope as in I am a dope, insert forehead slap here lol. Me a dope for managing to post a question not even remotely relating to blogs in the blog section of the forum.

Chrissy, there was nothing wrong with what you said :) There are quite a few people who keep their bunnys outside, hopefully you will be able to track a few down, take a look through the forum, you may find more info in the rabbitry and show room but hey who knows. I will move the topic out of blogs for you. Try using the search function on the forum. But no there isnt a specific sub forum for outdoor bunnys.

Karen, Your responses are wonderful as usual :)

LakeCondo, if you have a problem with what you think a member is saying, please contact a moderator or admin member so we can look into it. You can always ask to clarify what that member is saying but we do not judge people here on punctuation or spelling, I think you all know how bad mine is. And I dont think anyone here assumed Karen was being called a "dope". I would assume is was a comment about where the topic was made plus *Insert homer simpson dope here* now that one most generations should know ;) I think the Simpsons have been around for a good 23+ years

I think Watermelons was quite clear about how things should be handled when it comes to these things. The more we feed into the negative, the more it will grow and get out of hand.

ChrissyB, welcome to the forum. :)I am sorry the thread deviated from the original purpose but let's just bring it back on track shall we? I think RO's stance is to not have a divide between indoor and outdoor bunnies even though each member has their own opinion about it. So basically, whatever you want to know, you can just post it in the category that fits best. So if it's about housing outdoors, you can post it in 'Housing', if it's about water bottles and food you can post it in 'Nutrition', etc. If you want to have a general discussion about outdoor bunnies then I guess this section ("Housing and Environment") is the right place to post it. Either way, if ever it really is in the wrong section, a moderator will move it to where they think it will fit better and get more attention so no harm done.

My bunnies are also outside because it's the only way I can keep them due to very severe allergies so I understand. Mine have a shed and access to the garden. I do have a baby indoors right now but I should be alright with him til his hormones really start kicking in. :)

You don't need to feel defensive about having them outdoors if they are well-taken care of. Many of us here have them outside, especially the breeders who often have too many to keep inside. Of course, some members feel that they should be strictly indoor pets but RO encourages people to be respectful and open-minded when it comes to certain things so you shouldn't worry. If ever you have issues, you can contact the staff and they can better guide you. :)

I keep my bunnies outside, as long as you spend a lot of time with them, keep them in the shade, and make sure no predators get in, then keeping bunnies outside is completely fine. I don't think there is somewhere to discuss outdoor bunnies, but there is one that has pictures showing proper outdoor housing.
Hope this helps :)
