I like picture # 12 (the group shot where all the animals are seen). Did Simon shoot only 38 pictures or did he just selected a few to put on the CD? What type of Camera did he use? Did he set up only one umbrella for the flash? I'm just trying to learn things about photography. :p

He took a ton of pictures, but these must have been the only ones where I wasn't looking away trying to keep count of my pets running all over the place :p.

I sent him an email asking why type of camera it was, as well. I would like to know because I want to eventually buy a very nice one and learn how to use it. I know it was a Canon.

He used a rubber band and paper around the flash, not sure what that means...?

:)

Well, the CD for these 38 pictures will be $50. I guess I can pay for it, but it is a little steep for me. I think I would be sad if I couldn't have these for myself. Some of them came out very cute!

It would be considered stealing :p. Plus, you really can't blow up a small picture into a larger one and have it turn out just right.

That sounds like what I do on my flash too. :D I have an elastic sleeve and a whitefoam reflectoraround my flash.

Simons camera might be a Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II. Did he have a long zoom lens (70-200 zoom) on it?

Yes, the lens was pretty long. If every thing wasn't so crazy around here during the shoot, I would have been "OoOoOoOoOo'ing" over his camera :).

Stan....Simon replied back he said this...

"My camera is a Canon 1d Mk 3, but its $4500 without a lens. I would suggest the Canon 50D if you feel like going for it. Its about $1600 with a lens. The new Rebels are good too, you can get them at Costco."

What do you say about his camera reference to me? I'd like to get something some-what easy for me to figure out, without spending over $2k. Would I have to buy lenses for the Canon 50D or Rebels or would it work with just the camera alone for a while until I decide to buy a lens?

I'm sick of not being able to catch "binky bunny" pictures and I'm very very sick of not getting good pictures of the rats....since the rats aren't with me for long and their "teenage" months don't last long. They just age so quickly.

I might hold off on the Canon 50D. It is a brand new camera, and already there is some mixed reviews on it. Camera bodies will come and go. It's the lens that are the real investments if you are serious about photography.

It's like buying a new car. You have to figure out what your needs are (a sports car, mini van, SUV...) they all get you to the place you want to go. But you have to decide what you want to pay for it. No use getting snow tires if you live in the desert. ;)

I am a Nikon user. But a camera is just a tool. Any DSLR is a big jump over a point and shoot camera.

Do some research. You can't go wrong with Canon or Nikon. The more knowledge you have, the better your decision will be on getting the right camera for yourself. Then go to the store and give the cameras a test drive. :p

Wow, your Ryan looks a lot like my brother except different hairstyle, bro is a bit younger too and has acne.

Really nice pictures. I love seeing all the various pets you have.

Yeah, I guess I will do my research! I really like Nikon, as well. My point & shoot is a Nikon and I love it, but it is nothing like the "fancy" ones. Mainly, I want one with a super fast shutter speed, so I can have great pictures of my pets. All I mainly take pictures of is them, but I am sure when I get a nicer camera...I will brand out to other things.

I took an independent photography course in high school...my teacher was a photographer, as well as her husband. I loved it! I really wish to get back into it. I use Adobe to edit.
