How long have I had the hutch now? Less than a month i'd say, and it already falling apart!!! :X

I bought it from pets @ home for about £55. There's alot of damage on the inside door of the cage because Bracons been chewing it so ive had to reinforce it with more wood. The wood on the side of the hutch also seems really flimsy and the divider on the inside is starting to split. Anyone else have/had this problem. Im really annoyed.

My buns all chew their hutches, but they don't need reinforcements because they are all thick, apart from Cloud's which was bought at pets at home, lol.

Yes, the sides can let damp in so Cloud's hutch is covered in tarpaulin and waiting to be renovated, it's not reallyan outside hutch.

Try giving Bracon some other wood to chew so that she won't go so much for her walls.

You could always take it back. There will be some sort of guarantee with it.

I'm afraid bunnies are going to chew their hutches no matter what, not many won't do that :p

But Pets at Home's hutches are known for being a bit unreliable, though I think they normally last longer than a month!

I feel sorry for Pets at Home, they have such a bad rep, but they really are not the worst, and they are making efforts to improve. I'd much sooner go there than to any of the other pet shops around here :?

I went into my local P@H store recently during the hot spell, and was pleasantly surprised and relieved to see that the bunnies they had were being well-cared for. There were fans blowing near the cage, icepacks in the cage, plenty of food &water, and all the buns seemed to be happy enough.

Bracon call PAH customer services and complain.

I posted a long thread about a hutch we bought from there and they were REALLY helpful. They ended up sending me £50 of PAH vouchers and also said that all their stuff was guarenteed for a year so they will let you take it back and get a refund.

PAH can be a bit crap but their customer services is REALLY good.

I don't like the way PAH keep bunnies and guinea pigs together, and most of the staff have an IQ of about 1!

I was in yesterday getting Milly's pellets and I noticed a baby Himi Guinea Pig looking not very well at all. I told a member of staff it needed looking at she replied, " its probably been sitting under the water bottle". I mean, wheres the sense in that reply!!!!! I just walked a way, really to avoid an assault charge.:X I wish I had the space in order to bring that poorbaby home, but I don't.:(

Sorry for changing the subject there. Bracon I would phone customer services too.

I guess it's where you live, then. I've just been into my local one (I keep an eye on them!) and again they have fans blowing gently over the cages, icepacks and notices around the cages about what they expect from you if you buy a pet, and saying that they don't sell to impulse buyers or kids under 16. Rabbits and guineas are always separate. I have had my share of horror stories about PAH, but this store has really impressed me.

Yep mine has just had new cages put in they had ice packs and notices up about flystrike and stuff i know they have been working with the RWA so maybe that is what is making the difference
