Wouldn't she more so be an animal welfare person? They aren't the animal rights people like PETA, but they are against animal neglect/cruelty. They just want to see animals being treated properly. :)

I always feel the need to clear the air about this, PETA believes in having companion animals and not Pets. They sell companion animal supplies on their site and even admit directly on their site that they are not against people who have animals in their home, so long as they are being cared for properly.

I'm a not a member nor a big supporter of PETA, but misinformation is bad on both sides. I have yet to see any evidence that suggests otherwise on that matter.

Now regarding the Sea Kittens, I don't think changing the name will have much affect, they still look like fish after all! I find it hilarious, like the breast milk instead of cow milk (I think it was) in ice cream. :p

If you're talking about my co-worker, I just know that she donates to PETA. She lets me know about when there are articles on their website that might interest me (I will sometimes check them out; if I disagree, I just stop reading); she alerted me to the bunny necklace in their store that I bought from them. (It's super-cute, and I wear it almost every day now. I know that by buying it I am supporting them in some small way, but it's just too cute. It doesn't have their name on it and shows my love of bunnies. I have gotten more compliments on that necklace than I have on anything else.)
I know she also donates money to ASPCA, and encourages everyone she knows to adopt pets from shelters rather than purchase from petstores. Plus the other things I already mentioned. Personally, I do think she is more animal-welfare oriented, but I think she's interested in do whatever she can, wherever she can.
I know that she is a good person, and has a huge heart. I also know she doesn't condone the radical activism PETA sometimes engages in. The only thing I can think of that may keep her linked to PETA might be because they do promote a vegetarian message. Though, like I said, she does eat fish and dairy. *shrug*

Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to defend the radical things they do. I was just trying to say that not everyone affiliated with PETA is crazy.

Is it this one:

It's really cute, I agree. :)

That's a very cute necklace!

I don't have a problem with "old" PETA, but I just can't support it now with the radicals. One small group of people ruined it for the rest of them. They have their hearts in the right places (for the most part), but they need to figure out better actions to try and sway people. Doing odd, off-the-wall "rescues" and trying to change thing's names around to weird things isn't the way, in my opinion. It just gets you bad press or mocked.

Yeah, that's my bunny necklace!
It sits right at my collarbone, so it works with most shirts. (There's an extender, too, so it can be made longer.) The only days I don't wear it are if I have a turtleneck on.

It is funny, I work at a jewelry company, and ever since I bought that bunny necklace, it's about the only one I wear! And I get more compliments on it than anything I ever bought from my work!!
I will say, though, the description of it says "silver tone," so I have no idea what metal it actually is, it might cause some problems if someone is sensitive to metal.
