Correct -- you cannot protect yourself from beingsued for negligence. For instance -- Let's say you werecaring for a dog, left the door open, the dog escaped was hit by a carand killed. You could still be sued for being negligent andleaving the door open, even if you have a signed waiver relieving youfrom responsibility in the case of an accident.

If one of the animals dies in your care, you could be sued fornegligence if the death was a result of your incompetency resultingfrom your lack of knowledge in properly caring for thatanimal. That would be considered negligenceand youcould be held responsible for the death, even if you have a signedwaiver from the owner stating that you cannot be held responsible forillness, injury or death while in your care. If the owner canprove you were negligent in some way -- they have a case.

The signed waivers do notcompletely relieve you fromliability -- so it is imperative that youhave liabilityinsurance when starting a business.

Also remember, that peoplecoming onto your propertyanddropping off their animals poses a liability risk in theevent that theyfall or are injured in some way on yourproperty. Your regular house insurance may not coverincidents relating to running a business from your home.
