I was looking to get pet insurance for my buns. VPI has bunny insurance, but the reviews I read were all over the place from fantastic to poor. Most reviews were with dog or cat owners.

Has anyone here used VPI for their bunny? I'm not sure what to do now about the insurance. :confused2:

Pet insurance is still pet insurance regardless of the animal. So if insurance companys treat a dog owner badly and refuse to compensate, they will do the same for a rabbit.

Having worked at a clinic, I have seen far too many people get ripped off by pet insurance companys. Put your money aside in the bank instead of paying somebody elses cheque.

It's even worse with rabbit insurance, as VPI is the only option, while there are better companies that offer dog & cat coverage [per Consumer Reports, if I recall correctly.]

I used VPI years ago and they were HORRIBLE!!!! We have 3 animals now and prefer to just add money to the pets savings account every month! It's only for them, and that way if any of them has an emergency, we have the funds to do whatever needs to be done :)

Yes. This is interesting. ApparentlyPet Assureisn't insurance but is a discountwith participating vets.

They offer 25% off all services. Excluded are anything you take home (medications, etc) and grooming services. There are no exclusions for pre-existing or such.

I have to figure if this is still worth it with 2 healthy buns...

Probably setting aside $ on my own would be better.

The groupon coupon though is a good deal -- just $29/yr down from $79/yr for one pet. So ifvet visits for one year total$120, then the 25% discount pays for the membership.

I don't anticipate vet visits... maybe when they're older.
