My bunny has recently been getting urine on her fur. The fur around her hole area, under the tail, and a small portion of her back legs are wet with pee. Is this normal? Ive began cleaning that area once a week with a damp towel, but it doesn't seem to do very much. Her pee and her droppings are normal looking. She does her business in a shallow cardboard box that I line with newspaper. Any help would be great. Thank you!

No, this isn't normal and could be a sign of a urinary tract infection or another ailment.

They hide illness well, so she may not show any other symptoms.

How old is she? Is she spayed?

sas :?

This definately sounds indicative of a Urinary Tract Infection- the dribbling of the urine. Does she sometimes hop into her litter box, look as if she is straining to pee, but doesn't pass anything?

I think a trip to the vets is in order.

she doesnt look like shes straining to pee. sometimes she will hope inside, pee a little and leave a few droppings and just hop away. what other signs of an UTI are there? her pee seems to be of normal color and consistency.

Peeing only a little is another, unfortunately.

Before taking her to the vet you might try simply watching her when she's in the litter box. Newspaper is not especially absorbent and the pee may pool in the pan before drying out. If your bun likes to groom, doze, cecal, etc. after piddling, she might be dragging her tail into the urine while she does her thing.

Hopefully, it's nothing worse than this. A fix would be to use litter (expanding pellets are the best me thinks) in the box with a mat/absorbent pad in front for hop outs. :)

update: i took bunny to the vet, and it looks like it might be something in her diet. As recommended, I've taken her off of pellets and increased the amount of fresh veggies. she got all her wet hair shaved off and luckily only a small portion of her skin was inflamed. thanks for all your help. hopefully she'll get better soon! :)
