Hi, new here, but have been reading forum for a while. In a dilema. Panda is almost 7 months (female), really sweet, very social. Vet wants to spay immediately (surgery by her associate, not her). She is on House Rabbit Society list, Cynthia Burger, Beavercreek Animal Hospital, Beavercreek, Ohio. I know anesthesia is very risky (she had no % of survival to quote), but I can't stand the thought of lettering her get cancer in reproductive organs. Besides cost is $600 to $700!! A lot of money on a fixed income!! Does anyone know of her clinic? Just need your thoughts and knowledge of this sort of situation and of this vet, if any.

Hi, welcome to the forum!
Seven months is a good age for a spay, but it doesn't need to be done asap, you still have quite a few months before it becomes *risky*-reproductive cancer doesn't come That Early either.

Anesthesia isn't that risky anymore, if it is done by a rabbit-savvy vet and your bun is healthy, there is almost no chance of her passing. Times have changed and it has become much, much safer for our rabbit companions as well.

600 is EXTREMELY expensive, even for the more expensiver plaves to live. (I would always be shocked by any price quote on those, spay here is about 150 and neuter 90 of done by a fully savvy vet) Have you checked other clinics near you from the hrs listings?

I would def check into others for price comparison. Also check for local rabbit rescues. They can usually provide places for more inexpensive vets.
