As you know little Sway is coming Satureday. Apparently Sharon's friend has a little girl wth splay legs. I do not know how bad it is or what yet, I am currently waiting on word. Anyway, with Sway coming that will make me 7. I remember having 40 bunnies at one point, but I am starting to feel like a collector right no:(I want to help them but I feel like maybe I am hurting them in some way.

The lady is coming in June to meet Sharonso that is how long I have to decide. Apparently the bunny is under a year, that is all I truely know. No name, pictures, breed, exact age, etc.

I am working on getting everyone spayed and neutered. Mousse has bonded with Z, can not keep her out from in with him. She turned a year old the 6th, Z is still 3 months old. His penis is still not together and his testicals have yet to drop so I am not worried about a litter. However, things can happen over night. So I schedualed Mousse for her pre-opt checkup this Mondy at 3. The girl said the vet would decide if she was ok for surgery, giveprice if she was and then schedual her surgery. I am hoping it can be that Thursday however the girl said it is normally the next week.

With the neuter/spay prices being so high it is going to take many months before I can get everyone done. I plan to ask the vet about a possible payment plan so I can get everyone done sooner rather than later.

Now, should I say no, should I wait, what? I just think about what may happen if I do not take her, but what about my current guys? Am I doing wrong by them?

You need to PM Leaf for more information - she had two boys that had splayed legs. (I had a bunny with splayed legs too - I miss him a lot).

I was wondering if you could tell me what spray legs means?

I am adopting a bunny next week (my first one) that has two legs which are not quite right. it's a bit hard to explain in digital communication. I would be interested to hear about what spray legs is, to see if this is what his condition is. I don't know a whole lot more except that he was born this way and he is 2 years old and very friendly.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Splayed legs can occure from a few different matters:

If a bun is housed on slick flooring, mobility can be strained for youngsters, not allowing them to get proper footing and it can impact their growth.

A doe can lay wrong on a bunny causing an injury.

A rabbit can be born with physical limitations.

My two (Holiday & Fiesta) were very extreme in their splay issues. I knew the prognosis when I adopted them, and knew they would require special care. Once I actually met them it was aparrant their problems were severe and my vet confirmed my suspicion that their lifespans would be limited due to the lack of mobility.

Care and time needs to be dedicated to a splayed bunny. Depending on the severity, a lot of time can be needed to enrich the life of a severe case, but some live great lives with few limitations.

Here are a few pics of my boys:

Thank you Leaf :biggrin2:It is also nice to know she will be welcome somewhere else if something happensthatI can not keep her:)I will be taking her.

She was born to a breeder who still has her. She lives in the barn with the other rabbits. Her name is Lily and she is a blue tort holland lop. She is 11 months old

Here is an old picture of her:

New picture(s) suppose to be coming this weekend.

Awww they're soo adorable - you guys are truly angels taking in those bunnys - I really don't know what to say, I'm very touched at your generosity - gets me kinda choked up:goodjob

to the OP: You sound very apprehensive about being able to care for all of these bunnies and I understand. Only you know how many is too many. If you are concerned that you can't take care of them, don't take on a responsibility that will just make your life miserable. I see tons of bunnies that I would LOVE to have at the shelter, but I know I cannot take them because I am living a more than modest life, if you know what I mean! We cannot save them all. If you do think you have room, then by all means go for it. However, if it will mean emotional or financial hardship for you, don't.
