Wow! That's a long time!!! It took 20 years for breedersto remove the wooled gene from the New Zealand genepool. Lopbreeders really haven't mademuch of an attempt to eradicate it and it haunts breeders to thisday.

Ok, here's another couple--sorry we're keeping you so busy tonight,Pam!:p Daughter is workinglate, so I'm waiting up to be sure she gets home safetly
:) Hard to tell for certainwhichparent is contributing tothe smut -- could be bothandmay be more than one gene involved-- as youmentioned it can often molt out. I would try toavoid using smutty breeding stock, while at the same time rememberingthe importance of type. It's always a balancing act with nosimple or easy fixes-- especially with color taking a bigchunk of the points. If you have a class of animals withsimilar type, the smutty ones would be faulted and placed lower in theclass.

The Lynx is produced by the recessive dilute "d" gene. If theGolden carries that gene, you could get Lynx in the first generationlitter. If the Golden does not carry the dilute gene, all theresulting offspring would be Golden.

Too bad I'm so far away also.:?I want to see your little lynxes.

I just thought of something--Bubcould have beenalynx, the breeder almost gave me a pretty little lynx doe instead ofTank, who was golden. If your babies are that color they must begorgeous! I've a soft spot for golden though because of Bunbun.:)
