Hey everyone!

Well im a little worried. Yesterday and today someone has been making reddish urine.

Its not pure blood, but there is defneitly something in there.

Then today I walk in a Cleo is sitting in a really weird position. Almost hunched up =/

I know the pee color can range, but theres is normally both yellow, so is it normal for it to change all of a sudden?

She is otherwise acting normal, eating, drinking, still running away from me, haha.

Oh, and they did get some new greens mixed in (Romaine and Collard), but I made sure to introduce them slowly :? Our vet isnt working until Thursday, and im defneitly going to take her then, but can she wait that long?

Thanks guys, im really worried,

Silvie :(

Was the urine just a dark red colour or did you see what looked like little strings or clots of blood in it?

Urine goes a dark colour if it sits for a while. If it was pee done in the morning and you didn't see it till you came home from school, it would be much darker than fresh pee.

Watch her carefully and monitor her food intake. She may be in pain or she may have just been sitting in a funny position. Try to see if she's exhibiting any other signs of discomfort.

Even if it's not dried, it still changes colour when it sits exposed to air. I used to have light coloured carpets, and if anybunny peed on the floor it was very noticable after a few hours. The spot would still be soaking, but the colour would change to a dark oranges/brown/red colour.

I would keep a close eye, but don't stress too much.

Red urine isn't all that uncommon, either.

Did you feed anything different?

I think mine have an orange tinged urine from our well water. Lots of minerals.

I know some veggies cause that also.

I know there's a thread or two around here about it. :huh

It can also be caused by certain things in the diet. Think like if we eat beetroot we can get red wee the next day or later that day even if it was normal colour before hand, its a similar thing with rabbits. Also red colouring in toys could contribute too.

Blood, as has already been mentioned, shows up as strongs or clots, so you are probably looking at regular urine just with a different colour.

Watch carefully and try not to stress :)

ETA: also I think dehydration can cause darker urine, so have you changed where their water comes from? Or maybe their bowl? Or cleaned it with something different?

Hi Silvie this is what i found from a website

Urine

The color of rabbit urine varies from yellow to red and from
clear to cloudy. Some rabbits get what is known as urine sludge.
This can be caused by too much calcium in the diet. This may
cause straining and decreased urine output. If your rabbit
strains or has thick urine you should consult your veterinarian.

Does this help?

Thatr's a really good quote April, but I'm not sure the bit you highlighted applies here, unless the urine is gritty and like sludge. The first sentence though says that the urine can range through a wide range of colours which might help Silvie though.

Hey guys!

Well Cleo has an appointment for the vet tommarow at 10:30 am. My parents are taking her, as ill be at school.

This is just isn't the time of thing I can just overlook, and say is probobly normal. You know?

So send some good vibes our way :)!

Sorry, I have to run, but they went to the vet, and I stupidly remembered that we had given them some beet greens, so that's all it was!

Better safe then sorry though huh?

:)

Oh wow...this would be good for references in the Library...:)

So glad she's okay...:)
