My 5 year old rabbit has acted funny since yesterday. She's still eating but not really eating her pellets. She's been in the litterbox a lot and looks really sleepy. Also usually when she sees a cat she'll quickly run for them but now she doesn't care and she lays in her cage instead of coming out. What do I do?

How have her poos and wees been? Has she been drinking? will she eat other things other than the pellets? Has there been any sort of change in her housing or in your housing recently? Have you added anything new to her diet? Could it be heat related?

She was cold all last night so I gave her a towel to lay with and she laid in the same spot for at least 7 hours. Her diet is the same. Her cage was changed on the 9th but it hasn't been a problem. She ate a little romaine this morning, some yesterday, dandelions yesterday too. Also she took a tiny bite from my peach today because I wanted to make sure she'd eat it. Also she eats hay. I gave her a TINY bit of oats the last two days because she loves them. So I gave her a frozen water bottle a couple minutes ago and she's licking it. But I had to clean her butt because she had poop stuck to it from sitting in her litter box and I also noticed a white, really stinky discharge on her butt and in her litter box.

If she has a white stinky discharge - she needs to see a vet - like NOW! That sounds like some sort of an infection and she could wind up going "septic" (hard to explain - but her body will be totally taken over by the infection and getting worse).

I would RUN - not walk - to the nearest bunny savvy vet.

Yeah, sounds REALLY bad. You need to take her in as soon as posible!! Take it from me, if you think your bun has an infection don't wait till later to see a vet. my Bud had and infection and we didn't know he had it, and it killed him. Take him in now.

With best wishes,

That's really not good. Please take the advice on here and get her to a vet. If she was cold then her body temp might have dropped, which might have been caused by shock which can be fatal.

Please go.

Yes, she definately needs a rabbit savvy vet ASAP. The discharge is very worrying- I agree that it sounds like a bad infection, most likely herbladder or uterus. Do you still have the info for the clinic Treasured Friend recommended? Call them, tell them what's going on and that you need to come in as soon as possible. They should be able make time for an emergency. If you can't drive there yourself, take a taxi.

We dropped her off at the vet. Now I'm going to be really upset if something went wrong with her insides because I should have gotten her spayed first. She gets spayed the 30th. I need her to be okay!:tears2:

Well done for getting her there pretty quickly. If something has gone wrong, don't blame yourself because you have her booked in, sometimes these things just happen, doesn't make it your fault.

Thinking of you both.

I'll say a prayer for your little one. You did the right thing by taking her in. Is the vet rabbit savvy? Did they do any tests while you were there?

Keep us posted and I'll be praying.

Haley

It's our normal vet. We had to drop her off. They're calling in a little bit to let us know what's going on. It's theElmbrook veterinary clinic in brookfield wisconsin.

Not yet. My mom called an hour ago and they said they haven't looked at her yet. They're open until 7:00 so they'll call before then. :?

Alright. I picked up Rexie. She's got a cold. Her body temperature is too high. The vet thinks she maybe sick because she's not eating her poop like usual. We've got some medicine we have to give her for 10 days and Oxbows critcal care stuff we must force feed to her 3 times a day. Right when I let her out of the pet taxi she went to her litter box and now she's laying down.

What kind of medicine did the vet give you? Is this a rabbit savvy vet that you're seeing?I'm worried about your bunny.;)

This really doesn't sound like she has a cold as rabbits don't get "colds" but rather, bacterial infections(upper respitory infections) which vary, and an upper respitory infectionwouldn't cause white stuff to come from her behind to my knowledge...:(:?

Like Naturestee said, it sounds like bladder, or female organs could be infected.

I'm sure someone will be along very soon with more advice and help.

Prayers and good thoughts for you and your bun.

Im worried as well. What is the name of the meds they gave you? Is that all they said, they she had a "cold" and sent you on your way? I would think they wouldve done a fecal test or something.

I'll say a prayer for your little one. I hope this vet is experienced with rabbits.
