Hi. I have a female Rex bunny that we named Petunia. Just took her in 2 nights ago. She was in a smaller cage and came with nothing but a litter box and a bowl of apples. We put the cage in the living room and left the door open. She came out with in 5 minutes and hasn't wanted to go back in since. I left her litter box out and she uses it most of the time. I was planning on getting rid of the cage when she shows no more interest in it. With in 8 minutes she had herself at home and sprawled out with her feet kicked behind her laying under the coffee table. She has a ball chasing the one cat and 2 smaller dogs around. She doesn't chase them aggressively, they kinda just chase each other then stop sniff each other then the one will run in front of the other like come get me! She has binked a lot and runs crazy and flips up in the air. You can tell she is happy. Last night I bunny proofed my bedroom since the rest of the house wasn't and I had to watch her closely. We figured we will bunny proof the bedroom and she can stay free range in there when we aren't home or at night.
She was more then happy in the bedroom running around and using under the bed as a new tunnel running in and out in big laps. When we went to bed she would put her two front feet up and nudge my hand for pets so I pet her. Next thing I knew she easily jumped up onto the bed and layed with me. It was very cute! Until 3 minutes later I found a large wet spot on my bed. She peed on the bed! I figured well its over and done with might as well let her stay. She peed in another spot!! So from then on I kept pushing her off the bed and she would just jump right back on. It was a game to her ALLL night. Now I would have just put her back in the cage but I already put the cage in the back storage since she showed no interest in going back in at all. So all night she kept me up and I was afraid of letting her stay cause of peeing.
Is there a way to get her to stop peeing on the bed? Can I take the water away an hour before bedtime or something? Then put it back in the am when we are up? Is this a dominance thing? I do notice she rubs her face on everything as to mark it as well. Would getting her spayed help this at all?
Please help! We don't mind her on the bed sleeping with us, we think its cute, but we don't think the pee is cute!

She sounds very hormonal and territorial. Bunnies pee to mark it as "this is mine!". Taking away water wouldn't be a good idea. She's not doing it out of need to "go", she's doing it purposefully as a territorial act! Chinning stuff up is also marking it as hers. She is having a field day marking up everything in your home because she's thrilled to be home :)

How old is she and how did you get her? I would recommend getting her spayed as it may help curb the hormonal behavior. But spaying may not remove it completely, so be prepared. You may want to restrict the amount of space available to her so that she doesn't go ballistic marking up everything with urine. If she only does it on your bed, then I think you're a bit out of luck until you get her spayed and litter trained :)

This is very very common, unfortunately. Bunnies like to mark places that smell very strongly of us so beds and couches are a common target. I would advise locking her up in her cage at night to keep her out of trouble and blocking off the bed during the day.

I'm assuming she's not spayed? This could help immensely.

Hi! Thanks for the replies. I received her from a lady who could no longer care for her due to some severe health and medical problems. I was told she was about 6 years old and I doubt she is spayed but it was never mentioned. I was asking my sister who is a bunny person and she also mentioned getting her spayed might help but no guarantee. I do not mind putting aside money and having her spayed, but my question now is how old is too old to go under for a bunny?
Also she is very litter box trained . Outside the box she has only pee'd on my bed. She only wants to go on the bed if I am on the bed, otherwise has no interest. I am going to lock her up in the kitchen at night where she can't get into anything, with her bed and box. I'd rather not set up a cage again, and I don't like caging animals if I can help it to be honest. She hates it in that thing and is active at night so she would be miserable.

She was used to being fed, any kind of bunny food, apples and some lettuce ( what kind I don't know). Right now I give her lots of timothy hay, afternoon she gets green leaf lettuce and then at night some parsley and a baby carrot as a treat and of course the hay is there always as well.
