hi everyone justgot back from the vets did imention i love my vet lol . hetreated the bunny she has aboout 6stitches in her side they willdisolve in about a week hesaid in 3 days i can goahead and release her back into the wild, he also had the gameofficer there which wascool i got to tease him some ,i have a special permit now tohandle wild animalswhen the need arrises, but only of the 4 leged furryvariety no birds orcanines which as far as i amconcerned is good ,the little bunny is definately afemale which is a good thingwhen she is relwased she cango back and do herbunny thing and hopefullyraise sucessfull litters andmaybe repopulate our devistatedrabbit population. kinda off subject buti feel the need to respondto something Vness said : coyotes are NOTwolves i have a deepappreciation for wolvesi even owned a 1/4 wolfentrusted into my care bythe Humane Society she was the only oneof her litter to survive andshe survived to the ripe oldage of 13 which is a longtime for a hybred> alsoi asked my husbandwhere this coyote waswhen he shot itand what he said tookmy breath away , this animalwas within the 200 ft boundryof the farmhouse where there arelittle children didhe do right yes maybe it wasonly a rabbit BUT itcould have been one of the smallchildren that lives there hmfood for thought !


 
Good job Gypsy! How exciting that you now are"legal" to treat our furry friends. You will have to keep us posted onher progress. Where are you planning to release her? Does she have tostay in the same area as she was before, with all the coyotes? Or canyou release her somewhere else?

That is just awesome that you saved this bunnies life!

im notsure where i am going to release heras yet i want to scope out a fewdifferent areas around herehwere coyote populations islowest and if t here are anyother rabbits in the area( im hoping ), there are so few left anmorethat tracking them down willbe a time consumingevent but hey my 7 yrold has a week off lol gives usa chance to get back to nature lolOur Game Warden is goiing toscout around also and betweenthe 2 of us we should be ableto find appropriaterelease spot for her. my husband justcame up from the garage seemsour little wildfriend has made her self athome, she was sitting onthe hiding box hegave her looking around like sheowned the place lol ikinda guess she does she hasa double cagewith the center deviderremoved silly wabbit ,her stitches lookgood no weeping nooozing no redno swelling , sheis going tobe mad in a little bit imgoing down with theperoxide to see if ican clean it up gottoo much effort invested tolose her to infection ohdid i mention my vetnevr charged me for herwork today still feel a bitodd about that maybe i willmake a donation in his name toa wild life agency.
 
Can you release her there at your house? or is it too congested?

How did the vet handle her? did he give her gas to make her sleepy?

I am so proud of you and your hubby. This is veryheartwarming to know there are others who go out of their way to help alittle bunny.

My mom raised 5 and released them. I have a photo I need to put online.

She also found a baby chipmunk along the road.... didn't even have itseyes open. She was so imprinted that Mom didn't release herand she had her for 7 years! that's a long time for achipmunk.


 
gypsy I'm so glad you rescued that little wildrabbit and that she's doing so well :D . I hope you can find a goodplace to release her near others of her kind.

:( i would love torelease her here but where ilive is on a major highway andi really cant take the chance ofsome nut case driving byand hitting her where i willbe releasing her will be ina well wooded areaprobly some miles fromhere i am thinking hisGrandmothers farm theres over 1000 acresthere and a better chance forher to reunite with bunniesof her species. My Vet waswonderfull with her shei think kinda fell inlove with himbecause she was reallygood, not overly stressed,he found no need forgas as he felt itwouldnt be in her best interest ,he just put a localin the tear in herside and quickly stitchedit lol i guess even wildbunnies like their ears rubbed, imhoping by the time i need torelease her i have a new digicam i would love to be able topost pictures of her release ,tho its going to bebitter sweet i will be happyand sad to see her go , alreadyshe has impacted my life in just thefew days she has been here ,she even popped out this morningto get a treat , i was thrilledto say the least , for the last 2 daysshe has ignored me, l wasfeeling slighted for a bit lolbut this morning she mademy day. her stitches look really goodthis morning no redno swelling no weeping im thinkingin as few as 2 days ican release her.:? iwill post in again later to leteveryone know the latest , havea good morning
