Hi everyone,
This is my first post here. I am here because of my daughter's rabbit. We bought 2 rabbits at Atwoods for her back in December. We were told that the ones we picked were male & female. Tonight my daughter was checking on them & while playing with the female she noticed something odd. Her father & I checked on her and I honestly have no idea if what we saw is normal. Near her genital area on her belly there are 2 tubular looking growths or glands or something. I really can't think of another way to describe it. Any knowledge or help would be greatly appreciated!

Because you said tubular I'm thinking you're describing testicles. In rabbits the inguinal canal doesn't close off like it does in most species so they can actually retract their testicles back into the abdomen so even after they descend you might not always see them.
My other thought is the scent glands which are on either side of the anus/genitals.

Kind of thinking scent glads as well. Are they kind of pit looking areas beside the genitalia area? Sometimes they get gunky and require a q-tip to gently clean out any debris. There's a definite odor to it.

It could be that she is a he - the people who sold them might not have sexed her correctly. Do an internet search for rabbit testicles and see if it looks like that.

I'm not sure, but I don't think it's testicles. Doesn't look like any pics I've seen. I will try to get a pic in the next day or two. Thanks everyone!

Hi sorry it has taken so long to get back. I'm posting a picture of Juliette.

Hmm I'm not sure that uploaded... It's a little blurry, but she was nervous.

Definitely not a Juliette. More of a Julius. ;) Looks like it's the perfect time to schedule a neuter. Or two, if the other rabbit's have dropped as well. Are you certain that the other one is also male?

JBun, I had to "like" your post because it made me lol. A lot. I was thinking it but the way you phrased it cracked me up. :D

definitely a boy... so.. now you can expect babies sometime within the next 31 days. Separate them as soon as possible please. :)

Lol, ok. Thanks everyone for the input. Will have to check our "Gnomeo" to see if he is a she!
